As a woman I absolutely loved this movie! But I'm also a horror fan and gore doesn't bother me. I literally said the same thing as Kirk when I walked out of the theater with my friends "that was a cinematic masterpiece." This movie reminded me of a play! Though come to find out afterwards it's loosely based on Hamlet. The music was great. The visuals were awesome and it totally reignited my love of Norse Paganism. The barbaric feel of the people in the movie was refreshing because typical Viking movies always make me feel aware that it's modern people pretending to be old world humans but this movie was very different. It felt authentic to me. Personally it's one of the best movies I've seen in a while. I'm very happy with it. My friend who was with me is a total nerd for historical vikings and he felt like this movie felt way more authentic than other Viking shows and movies.

Loved the Northman but I think it was a little too arty or heady for the masses. Also Rotten Tomatoes doesn't always capture the full breadth of opinions.
