The forensic psychologist utilized by the Depp team seems clearly biased for several reasons. One, she was hired by the Depp team and has a financial motivation to provide findings that support Depp's case; two, she states "I do not recall" in key moments in cross-examination, where she would clearly have recall (which is also lying under oath); three, making two significant mental health diagnoses--which are about as damaging of diagnoses as one can make--without significant time to diagnose. She is also being dishonest about BPD not being far more diagnosed in women than men (it is) and the (her claim, no) crossover between BPD and trauma (there is a significant crossover between BPD and trauma, especially sexual abuse). I feel like there is too much open-mindedness towards the psychologist here; we need to be mindful that psychologists utilized in court cases are not unbiased and their findings should be viewed through an extremely skeptical lens. I am a LICSW in WA.

My impression is that she did not diagnose Heard with anything, she said that she had MMPI results that were consistent with BPD and HPD. Keep in mind that lawyers are allowed to ask leading or deceptive questions in cross-examination (eg ‘isn’t it true that you diagnosed Ms Heard with x) and their objective is to discredit the opposing side ‘s witness, not neutrally uncover the facts of the case. This is why Heard’s lawyer asked Curry if she is Board Certified-IMO she was trying to mislead the jury into thinking she is unlicensed.
