I once knew a teen who would often show others how he could put a hat- pin through his forearm. I always considered it sort of a parlor trick. Also, my sister used to scratch initials on her arm. With needles so the scabs would be prominent. I didn't consider these actions to be NSSI. What do you think. Hope you know -- you entertain and educate me day and night. Thanks!

Hey Lois! Yeah, it depends on why your sister did it and how much she suffering. If she was just doing it for fun, it's not considered NSSI.

Thank you for the podcast. I've been a self-injurer for 26 years and recently relapsed after a few years injury-free. This is one of the best sources of information I have come across. Thank you for being comprehensive and compassionate.
