The best way I could describe the difference between these two attachment styles as someone with disorganised attachment is the following: With pre-occupied you’re still disillusioned or believe you can get your attachment needs met if x or y happens. With disorganised you’re not disillusioned or don’t believe you can get your attachment needs met, regardless of what you do. But you do need to avoid disaster so have strategies that vary depending on the circumstances which are in effect at all times. Constant vigilance of attachment, no hope for attachment.
