Not really a fan of the analogies but good talk I guess

This is my most favorite episode so far. I’ve tried to have conversations like this, and they typically don’t go well. I get why people feel reactive to the idea that the presence of a belief/idea/impulse etc doesn’t make a person evil, even if actions related to those things are disturbing/dangerous/damaging and that a culture of hate and repression ultimately breeds terrible consequences. I really appreciated the analogies and other ways Alexei’s situation was presented. Just a couple of weeks ago I was intensely advocating for the importance of making a space for people to express their internal struggles without fear of immediate and extreme judgement. I was talking about suicide, but the is there for everything. Shame spirals are just so dangerous. I *wish* I was able to be as convincing in presenting this argument as you and Berto.
