I've been really enjoying your discussions on these personality disorders and also their representations in film. I'm currently going through your episodes to try and get a better handle on narcissism, hystrionic and borderline. The Nightcrawler episode was fantastic and I know you touched on him possibly being hystrionic. I would love to hear any more examples of movie characters representing hystrionic, if you know of any.

Just rewatched There Will Be Blood last night and applying the narcissistic personality to Daniel really furthered my understanding of both of the film and the idea of narcissism, in relation to his actions. It was all very clear... I also started to wonder if Eli is on the narcissistic spectrum as he seems to get his supply from his congregation, and he suffers the extreme humiliation when Daniel pushes him into the mud and beats him. Eli goes home and is seen ruminating, then exploding with anger at his father, and the scene in the church where he humiliates Daniel seems to be a calculated revenge, in the same way that Daniel gets his revenge against Eli. I also watch The Talented Mr Ripley for the first time, and again this insight really provided a lot of understanding. I believe that I am on this spectrum, as well as possibly histrionic, but seem to match more with narcissism traits, and your podcasts have been an immense help in understanding.

Yes. Good eye. I thought about talking about Eli also, but I thought it might be too much info. We don't know as much about Eli, but he's also a good candidate.
