This is really interesting. I love your therapy & the law episodes, probably because I'm an attorney. Mandated reporting laws are rather unfortunate, imo. In my office, we specifically hire social workers who are NOT licensed because anyone who is licensed would be subject to the reporting requirements. You often talk about disclosure statements, but none of the therapists I've seen has ever given me a disclosure statement. Is that because I tend to see older therapists? Are disclosure statements a new thing?

All therapists are required by ethical code and law to provide several disclosures prior to treatment and receive a signature indicating receipt, understanding, and consent.

Lol, I've never signed anything inside a therapist's office, other than personal checks with which to pay for the sessions.
