I'm hoping by now you've all had a chance to play CMan v1.1! v1.2 will be ready in 1st week of September and will include a soundtrack and a voiceover for Deborah Jones. These aren't the last upgrades we have planned. Based on the positive reception the game has received, Thrawn and I have decided to continue to build on success. We're currently planning on monthly enhancements, based on your preferences as determined through polling, in various ways. We've also begun planning for new universe expansions that will be accessible from the main map to a new world map. This world map will provide access to various new locations but also new maps that will feature whole new casts of characters, locations, challenges and rewards! Details follow below:

The Monthly Development Plan:

A. VOICEOVERS- I'd script and commission to enhance one NPC after another
NPC voiceovers- kick-off poll to determine order for next 3 months
Susan Granger, Tracey Bledsoe, Candace Kelly, Jennifer Page

B. LOCATIONS
New location- poll 3 to determine order for next 3 months
Private Airport (allows travel outside Zenith), Bank (take loans), Casino (gamble), Pawn Shop (sell trophies), Hollister Academy (local private school)

C. TROPHIES
New Trophy- poll 3 to determine order for next 3 months
Jennifer’s CEO of the Year Award, Ceremonial Key to the City, Stephanie Tremont’s company car

D. NEW NPCs
New NPC- poll 3 to determine order for next quarter
Janet- Deborah’s college friend and roommate
Karen- Government Gender Equity Investigator (outside threat)
Kevin Kelly- College Intern (Kevin grows up)

E. NEW EVENT CYCLES
Would be separate cycles that incorporate several individual but related events that fit the theme
New NPC Event Cycle- poll 3 to determine order for next 3 months
Artemis Angel Beauty Contest Cycle
Admin Olympics Event Cycle
Admin Talent Show Event Cycle

F. BONUS CONTENT FOR DIRS+
Finally, bonus content accessible for Dirs+
examples include:
Bonus for Directors+
After Party @ Berlin Nightclub
VIP Room @ Pussywillows
OBEIR Wholesale Showcase

I think we'll start by alternating the above upgrades as follows: month #1- A & B, month #2- C & D, month #3- E &F and back to A & B.

In the background, we'll also be developing new modules that will allow you to build on your success in Zenith by expanding in a new sector. We anticipate building a fulling working module every six months. The current ideas for these modules follw:

New locations with thematic extensions could include:

1.) CAPITOL CITY- “Hail to the Chief”
This content module would explore political themes. NPCs would represent politicians, staffers, lobbyists and the like. Departments would take the form of legislative bodies, government institutions, NGOs and so on. The Player would use the wealth and power accumulated in the base game to gain political office, either elected or appointed, and then proceed to influence political decisions on a national level, using the same types of subversion techniques featured in the base game.

2.) COSMOPOLIS- “Bulls & Bears”
This content module would be set in a global financial network city (Wall Street or City of London) and focus on mega deals, mergers and acquisitions, hostile takeovers, market manipulations, cornering commodities markets and more. The Player would use the wealth and power accumulated in the base game to launch a hedge fund, take roles in multinational brands and otherwise frolic in the financial deep waters.

3.) STUDIO CITY- “Lights, Camera, Action!”
This content module would allow the Player to dabble in the world of media and entertainment. It would focus on mass media and entertainment institutions such as movie studios, tv and cable networks, radio, music, online and other media platforms. The Player would use their base game resources to launch new media businesses, take over existing ones and otherwise influence key influencers such as directors, stars, agents, executives and other creatives in the pursuit of greater power and privilege.

Each of the above would follow a similar template that would include (but not limited to):
1.) An isometric map, thematically linked to base game look and feel
2.) An original module soundtrack
3.) Casting of new NPCs
4.) Voiceover for selected NPCs
5.) Commission live talent for the ‘key NPC’ for added impact (See Exec2Sec, original SOTU)

In addition, Thrawn has already begun thinking of ways to re-visit the base game for a v2.0 (this would be 12-18 mos out)-- but I'll let him share his vision here directly.

Obviously this is a big plan but one we believe can continue to build on the game universe on a regular basis and one that is quite 'do-able'. There's lots to talk about, so let's start talking! What do you think of the above?

NOTE: I'll re-post this on Patreon, but I'd like for the feedback to happen here on the forum please:

Studio City sounds very interesting for a new location

To follow-up on this, I'll just give a quick run through the technical side of things.  Up until this point, most of the work has been done on bug fixes and development tools to enable Selecta to rapidly build out content on the platform we've built.  Going forward, however, we have much bigger plans to expand the scope of the game and it's content. The biggest code change was enabling the multi-tiered map, where you have access to both the world map, as well as multiple sub-regions like Zenith, etc.  This has happened in parallel to a lot of work fleshing out the audio systems to enable the integration of a full soundtrack and voiceover. There are a lot of things still on the TODO list, and a few more kicking around in our heads.  But the biggest addition by far is that we plan to start including branching dialog choices.  This is obviously a big divergence from the game as it is currently built, but it should give you a much more immersive means of interacting with the world.  To be clear, this isn't Mass Effect, and most lines & interactions probably won't have dialog choices.  But for big & challenging decisions we feel like adding more player choice would be a lot of fun! All this work is completely compatible with the main game as it exists right now, and Zenith will most likely remain largely unchanged, with these new features mostly being utilized in the big  "Expansion Modules".  However, eventually we'd like to go back through Zenith and re-build a lot of the content with these new features to give an even more immersive and fleshed-out experience (likely in 12-18 months). I'm super excited about what's being worked on right now, and I can't wait to see what Selecta does with the systems I'm building!

Finally my plans for world domination can be completed!
