The first version of my body hair was created years ago, before the game even had a body hair category. Although I was happy with it at the time, I've been dissatisfied with the art style and wanted to update my body hair for a while now. This new suite of body hair offers a more realistic set of hair for your sims.

FEATURES:
1) Includes 10 Chest Hairs, 6 Back Hairs, 3 Arm Hairs and 3 Leg Hairs
2) Enabled for the official Hair Growth system from EP12: High School Years
3) 100% Hand painted for a unique, detailed Maxis-match style
4) Arm hair includes armpits on all styles

HAIR LOCATIONS:
There are four official growth areas: Chest, Back, Arm and Leg. I've grouped my hair as follows:

Chest: all chest hair and pubic hair
Back: all back and buttock hair
Arm: all arm and armpit hair
Leg: all leg hair

NOTES ON HAIR GROWTH:
The HSY pack includes a hair growth system (enabled in CAS), which allows your sim to shave and re-grow body hair. Because I intend this style of hair to be my "default" body hair style, I've enabled it for the growth system.

It mostly follows the game's three official growth stages (Light, Medium, Heavy).
My Chest and Back hair designs include five coverage levels, but only three of each are enabled for hair growth: the first, the middle, and the last. I've made a note of which levels are enabled, and which stage they represent, in the preview pictures.

DEFAULT HAIR HIDER:
I've included a default hair hider file. The file is designed to completely remove the official body hair designs from your game, both in CAS and in-world.

The game appears to be coded to recognize one style of hair for growth. If you use only my hair, the default hider should stop your sim from re-growing Maxis hair designs and cause them to only grow Simdulgence hair designs.

If you have multiple CC body hair which are enabled for hair growth, the game may produce unexpected results when sims grow hair.

AVAILABILITY:
The hair is available for male sims of either frame (masculine and feminine). It is not available for female sims of either frame, because their UV is slightly different and will require some unique texture work.

KNOWN ISSUES:
Body hair can cause some transparency issues where it meets the edges of lighter clothing swatches (especially white). The issue causes visual "gaps" where the hair disappears at the very edge. Unfortunately, this is a base game issue that occurs with official EA body hair and clothing (as illustrated in the pictures above). I've tried to minimize the issue where possible, but if the appearance bothers you the only solution is to use a darker clothing swatch.

FINAL NOTES:
I've tried to make the hair as detailed as possible. In some places where a sim's body bends, or the texture space is small, the detail may be lower quality. There isn't much I can do about that, unfortunately.

CHANGELOG:
2024-07-22:
Made chest and back hair available to female sims with a masculine frame.
2024-06-05:
Fixed incorrect flags that were interfering with the body hair growth system. All hair growth stages across all hair designs should now work correctly.
2024-02-08:
Added an optional file to add the body hair to WW's pubic hair selector in game. This allows you to add a body hair in Live mode. The add-on currently contains the "natural" colors available in WW; I may add the other colors in a future update, depending on other projects and user demand.
2024-01-16:
Added two new chest/pubic hair designs, as seen in the final preview picture. The first style comes in two levels of coverage and the second style comes in three levels of coverage, for five new chest hair options in total. Altered thumbnails for pubic-only styles to better show off those designs (you may need to clear your localthumbcache.package file to see the new thumbnails).
2023-11-29:
Made several changes, including:
- Added hair to the upper backside of the scrotum to correct gaps in existing butt hair (shown in the last preview picture). This extra bit of hair will ONLY show on SimplePenis 2.0 due to the changes in UV maps.
- Added a NEW body hair for the back, featuring hair just around the butt crack and taint but no hair on the butt cheeks. This style is designed to bridge the gap between the default hairless option and my first butt hair option (light hair on the butt cheeks).
- Changed the thumbnails of two existing back hair choices to reflect that they have butt hair and no hair on the back.
2023-05-03:
Fixed an issue causing chest hair to incorrectly show up for female AND male sims.

I have a file in my Mods folder named 'Simdulgence_BodyHairMale_Legacy.package'. Do these files replace that one?

Pridecat

These look incredible, thank you!

simdulgence

Sorry, should have been clearer in the post! The Legacy file is my original body hair designs, now using the official Body Hair slots (instead of the Tattoo slots that I used originally). You can use both in your game, or pick one or the other - it's up to you.

What a nice surprise! Thank U so much!

I'm still having the HSY body hairs showing up even with the default hider installed; is there a way to get rid of them as well?

simdulgence

Hey - sorry you're having an issue! Do you mean you're still seeing them in CAS, or that you're seeing them show up on sims in Live Mode? If it's in game, it may be that the game already generated someone with the hair, and they may need to be taken into CAS and have hair manually removed. If that's the case, I don't think there's any quick fix that will remove them automatically. If it's showing up in CAS, or the hairs are still showing up on newly generated sims (sims the game creates after installing the mod), let me know. It didn't seem to be a problem in my testing, but perhaps I overlooked something?

Michael Dodge

They’re still appearing in CAS for me, but only the HSY hairs and not the ones that came with the basegame update; could this be a conflict with the mod for restricting body hair for female sims?

simdulgence

It could be the cause, but when I just tested this in my game I think I had a slightly different outcome - I could only see the official hair on female sims (male sims only showed my body hair designs), and I could see hair from the update AND from the HSY pack. The reason is sort of an oversight on my part. - simdulgence_BodyHair_DefaultFEMALE.package is for users who want to use official body hair on female sims, but don't want the hair to show up at random. - simdulgence_BodyHair_DefaultHIDER.package is for users who don't want to use official body hair at all. I didn't expect there may be users who would have both files in their game at the same time. If you use both, you'll still see hair on female sims in CAS. If you don't want official body hair on female sims, you can remove the "DefaultFEMALE" file completely (as well as the "DefaultMALE" file, since the hider file overrides it). If you're still seeing hair on male sims and definitely only the HSY pack designs, there might be a different mod conflict somewhere in your files. I'm sorry this wasn't clear enough in the posts! If this is confusing or doesn't fix the issue, let me know.

Michael Dodge

I'd only had "DefaultMale" installed; removing it resolved the issue for male sims; female sims also don't have any body hair options in CAS for me now except weirdly the new chest hairs from this set. I'm guessing the appearing for female sims is due to some kind of conflict with another mod I have and not with any of yours.

simdulgence

Okay, it's not a conflict with another mod - it's a me issue. I made a different dumb oversight, and this one was actually pretty dumb! I flagged the hair as restricted to the opposite gender, but the hair was labelled as both "male" and "female" so the game couldn't tell what gender to restrict. I've fixed the issue (and double-checked it in my own game) and updated the file in the post. Try using the version from today and it should solve the hair showing up on women issue. Sorry about all of this!

gayundymodel

so, i am loving this body hair so much but my problem is that it doesnt work over custom skins. I have body hair from someone else that does, but yours are like a 1000 times better. Any way to make them work over custom skins?

simdulgence

Hey! Thanks, glad you like the designs. It's possible that you're encountering an issue due to how the skin is set up, but it's hard to say without looking inside of the package files myself. Do you happen to have a link to them so I can check it out? It would help me know whether there's a way to get the files to cooperate better.

gayundymodel

Oy, I'm so sorry I'm just seeing this. It doesn't work with any of my skins. It does however work with the skin overlays if that makes sense. I have seen that my my other body hairs work on all when applied through wicked whims. Any chance it could be integrated?

simdulgence

It mostly makes sense, although I'm not sure what skin overlays you mean - are you saying it works with skins you apply in CAS from other creators, but not on default skin replacements from other creators? At one point in time I think I set up my older hair designs to work with the WW system; I'll have to look at how it's done again. As long as it doesn't interfere with how the body hair functions (the official Maxis way, I mean) it's probably doable.

gayundymodel

I'm sorry, I may not be saying all the right terms or lingo. So, you know how creators creat two types of skins? One that changes details, skin color, facial features, etc. and then they'll release that same skin in an overlay that doesn't change color and what not but just adds like textures?

Wwindystar

Thank you for remaking this! I love your bodyhair. Can you make it compatible with ww pubic hair system again? I want use your body hair for it and now the basic ww pubic hair sets are not compatible with your new Simple Ps.

LoFi

So just wanted to be clear on something here, so when I used the body hairs before this update, when my sims would grow their hair it would turn into Maxis hair. But you’re saying the hider file makes it so only Simdulgence hair is available for regrowth? So does it remove Maxis hair from the game?

simdulgence

Hey! Sorry for the late reply. I can try to make it compatible, yes - though to my knowledge (the last time I checked at least) the WW system only offers settings/listings for some of the hair colors and not all of them? I haven't re-visited it since my early body hair, so maybe it's changed. In any case, I'll take a look at it :)

simdulgence

Hey - do you mean that sims who were using Maxis hair would re-grow Maxis hair? Or sims who were using Simduglence hair would re-grow Maxis hair? Inside each body hair design there are internal flags for both a) a growth level and b) a growth region. So the game will see a "belly hair" at level 1 and a "belly hair" at level 2 and know that's the logical progression in terms of growth. My hider file removes the growth level and growth region flags from official Maxis body hair, as well as making them unavailable for random sims and hiding them in CAS. I believe this should make Maxis hair not available for re-growth in game, and only Simdulgence hair (there are a few specific designs) available for the growth system. If you're running into any issues, or need further answers, let me know! :)

LoFi

Oh yeah I meant that I would use a simdulgence hair level 1 and then when it would grow it would turn into a Maxis hair. I’ll try it without the hider and see what happens! Thank you!

J-Doh

Any chance you will do alternative hair types like curly for example? or maybe different coverages? Love your work!
