Better late than never? ;u; Well, like I mentioned last week, since harvey put me a bit behind, I'm gonna post the last two 'paid posts' for august for free this week. Late comic update coming soon!

What do y'all think of this new coloring/inking style? I'm using my sketch brush and keeping the colors MOSTLY flat, and just adding some gradients + minimal lighting to give it some depth, but without overdoing it. I'm actually really starting to enjoy it cause it means I have to spend more time on the lineart and make sure it looks dynamic and good. My problem is that I rely heavily on shading and lighting to fix bad looking lineart, and while that's usually not necessarily something that makes my art look bad, I know if I don't like the lineart, it'll be better if I redo it entirely, instead of trying to mask it with color lol (Cause god knows I've done some real disservice to some people's oc's by lining their face weird and trying to hide it with shading) but if you don't have a solid foundation, your work is going to fall flat.

And whats the best way to emphasize good lineart? Flat shading lol.

See, and that's another thing with art. Just a month ago, I was telling myself, "You're not making your shadows dark enough. You're not adding enough lighting. There's no real contrast." but now that I've been playing with flats again, I can see a HUGE difference. I have so much to learn, man, but at least I'm having fun doing it. <3
