hello! (´• ω •`)ノ

lately, I've been reflecting on themes and imagery that I find myself repeatedly drawn to and how that may inform the art I'm trying to make moving forward. it feels like a simultaneous narrowing down and expanding of ideas as I recognize certain patterns popping up. it's been fun doing studies of photos and art that feature interesting shapes and finding ways to incorporate those symbols into my own drawings. especially as it relates to Sleepy Creature, I've had to get intentional about what I'm trying to convey and that requires a more focused approach to art and storytelling that I didn't previously prioritize. creating her and her world demands some amount of specificity and it's been nice having something to work on regularly and develop in a continual fashion rather than starting and finishing within a small time frame (aka how I've generally approached art the past decade, lots of one-off concepts that I never revisit lol). I feel like I'm evolving alongside her and it's interesting to bear witness to change in a tangible way~

loving the vicki brain dump, very cathartic (sleepy creature is GORJEAN, i love that awakening photo, it feels transcendent) 🫶🏼✨ it’s interesting how you write “pain/love”…. they are quite similarly all-consuming, raw, nagging sensations/emotions….

Love love love! Especially the opening one! And going into it. It really does feel like that 🩷 I feel like the pain one has feelings of the feminine in it too & it reminded me of how a yoni looks! And feminine energy being related to emotions/water/earth/the body - especially as women it reminds me of the idea of all the eggs a woman will ever have are already there as a baby - and so while she’s in her mom her future children in some way are too (and in this way connecting you to you being inside your grandma) and how unprocessed pain can be passed down family lines! And the movement in the first piece with sleepy creature is so beautiful And my thoughts on the internalization/projection one is I do feel like the mind can put bad/mean thoughts of self onto others /the moment - and it’s not even real/what they’re thinking! It’s more so the mind projecting its own insecurities onto another person and like judging self through someone else! Love how art can capture so much depth and emotion from the human experience 🩷 beautiful depictions of it all 👏

thank you lily! :D and omg i'm glad that feeling got across as well as her gonjusness~ yeah, there really is so much crossover when it comes to pain and love. it can pop up in so many different situations throughout life as well, truly an endless source of feeling to ponder...

life feels like one continuous decision to move through the next portal... i've been thinking a lot lately about themes like birth, motherhood, spirals, and the circular nature of life, so I connect with what you're saying about how things get passed on and there are so many ways in which humans are connected that they may not ever see or realize. the idea of the eggs and several generations being together at once is fascinating, i'd never thought of it that way before! that's so true, all of us have so many feelings going on inside ourselves at any given moment, misunderstandings are bound to occur when we try to put into words the noise in our heads. xD i used to feel like misunderstandings were a failure of communication, but now i see them as a natural part of being with others. it's a matter of when, not if. i'm so glad you could get all that from my art rinka, truly always so curious about how other people interpret similar ideas!
