Hello! (..◜ᴗ◝..)

I celebrated my 29th birthday at the beginning of this month (happy birthday to my fellow Leos and August 4th bdays <3) and wanted to revisit some of the bright, loving memories of that day. I had the chance to spend time with loved ones, visit the beach (one of my favorite places in the world), and eat a feast of delicious food prepared by friends. Birthdays are usually a bit of a fraught experience since it's easy for me to get caught up in high expectations and overwhelmed by possibility (a theme in my life). Thankfully, getting older has granted me the knowledge that birthdays are an opportunity to celebrate yourself in a way that you enjoy, not in some nebulous societal way of what a birthday should look like. It was a very special day during which I felt deeply loved and in turn felt immense appreciation for people in my life.

my friend surprised me with the new NewJeans album! !! fueling my obsession...I've already gone ahead and customized the bag with accessories. xD also peep my NewJeans shrine...it's a small collection of items that brings me so much joy ^.^

when I tell you this plate of food was beyond delicious...just thinking about it makes me want to eat it again...my friends are such good cooks it genuinely astounds me.

I wanted to draw my memories and impression of that day to capture how it felt. I'm already an avid journaler/scrapbooker in my daily life, so drawing felt like the next natural step in chronicling the experiences of that day. I'm a sentimental person by nature and love getting the chance to relive good times whether through photos, drawings, or words. I think memories become more beautiful through reminiscing and I often look back through my journals to see my life through a new perspective. Sometimes I come away with new insight, find a pattern, or feel renewed gratitude for what I've lived through. It's a way of making sense of life, creating meaning, and grounding myself in this world that is naturally filled with chaos.

I really enjoyed the process of journaling in this medium and want to do it again soon. I'd also love to make a short comic in this style, I think that would be really fun and properly convey the dreamy feeling I often associate with memories.
