Hope you had a relaxing weekend and happy mother's day to all the moms out there! ^^ With Mermay still in full blast, it's been interesting balancing making a full piece every day and pushing myself creatively with weekly sketches. I feel like because the Mermays are so detailed my sketches have started to become more simple and gesture-like, which I don't mind at all since I've felt a general stiffness in my work for some time. I never know what lessons I'll learn from doing these monthly challenges. Even though I often feel like giving up or taking a break, I understand it's worth it to see it through to the end and push myself to grow in new ways. ^^

Above: SZA at the Met Gala! I love her costume from this year sooo much, she looks like a literal cloud angel come to life. Seriously just...out of this world. 

Lana at the Met Gala! I've always felt drawn toward artwork from the Baroque era, especially Bernini's sculptures (Ecstasy of Saint Teresa is my fav) and seeing Lana's costume reminded me so much of that period's drama and opulence. The headpiece and the elaborate chest decoration? I'm LIVING. 

Zendaya at the Met Gala! Her look was probably my favorite from the event, just because she made it look so effortless, almost as if it were a second skin and something that she wore all the time. Which is a ridiculously cool vibe might I add. Will be sketching her full outfit more....

I got all caught up on Steven Universe last week! It's been awhile since I've seen any episodes and I'd almost forgotten just how much I like this show, which is criminal. @_@ I love seeing how Lion and Connie have gotten closer throughout the show and wanted to draw them together! ^^

A quick Pink Diamond sketch! 

Started experimenting with a new sketching style! Something looser and more fluid than what I've been doing recently. What started as umbrella drawing practice turned into exploring new techniques. I love coming across unexpected moments like this while making art. ( ´∀｀)♡

And then I just really wanted to draw more Princess Peach haha. <3

My first ice princess design! I don't draw a lot of ice-related subjects so this was an interesting prompt. What I knew for sure was that I wanted her to look fluffy. *u* And regal of course. But fluffy first.
