IT'S SUMMER! (Patreon)

Welcome back to my Patreon, I hope you're having a lovely day so far~ In California, summer is in FULL FORCE. Warm days and long nights have made themselves welcome and the heat has been seeping its way into every pore of my body. What better way to combat the heat and cool off by taking a trip to the beach? (or pool!). I wanted to take a classic summer scene and put my own spin on it.

The image you see at the beginning of the post is the calendar piece I drew for the month of June. Oh yeah, I'm working on a calendar for 2018! Check out pieces from the past months here:

I really enjoyed working on this piece and I think I owe a lot of that to trying new things. I started this monthly series as a way to practice backgrounds and I kept everything else relatively simple and familiar. All the other pieces have featured a single character, but I wanted to try and push myself with this one. I really enjoy the camaraderie of summer, people are out and about enjoying the warm weather and spending time with friends at the beach is always a treat! I thought it only fitting to include more people in this piece and think it adds a bit of fun compared to the previous months, which feel more serious and reflective to me. 

Also, I've found out that painting clouds is truly relaxing. I don't know particularly why, maybe because they're so fluffy? The act of drawing clouds feels like petting a soft bunny. It's just nice.
