hello patrons! β˜†οΎ(o*ο½₯Ο‰ο½₯)οΎ‰

it's been awhile since I practiced my fundamentals, so I took myself to the art gym and got to lifting. art, like any other skill, requires practice to learn, hone, and refine, repeat ad infinitum. I like to do focused (eg: value, composition, color, etc.) studies from reference to refresh and strengthen my building blocks. I say focused because it's easy to get lost in the sauce when studying from reference and having a north star to return to helps the brain look for specifics. in these sketches, I focused on value and color. I love how there's always something new to learn when it comes to art, there's no point where you've "learned it all".

since I've been obsessed with Challengers lately (I saw it twice in theaters and am eagerly awaiting the blu ray release so I can keep studying it), I used the characters as reference for my practice. ^.^ also, if you haven't seen it yet, please go see it. it's a very good movie. πŸ‘ and if you've seen any movies you really like recently, please recommend them to me. :]

enjoy the rest of your day,
