Like Mila, Isaiah now had a class which gave him power from his relationship with Aalam, and, like Mila’s similar class, his came with rather extreme benefits.

The decreased soul burden from high stat effectiveness, combined with the synergy between his racial abilities and his draconic skills from his first class, took away almost all of the negative effects of the berserker skills he specialized in, and the increased strength of his bond with Aalam was incredibly useful, enabling them to easily communicate through their bond from even two separate universes so long as a portal was open. But it was the last three effects which were truly amazing, becoming the fourth trump card he’d yet to reveal.

While in Aalam’s Territory, Isaiah’s senses and control over external energy increased greatly, and the effect was even more drastic in the Heavenly Soul Universe. There, if he so desired, it was like everything in existence would help him in any action he took. If he wanted to know about a cultivator, he could see past their aura defenses to view the energy flows within their soul. If he wanted his skills to produce more power, external energy would flow into them at a much quicker rate than normal, increasing their power by almost half a rank. And, if he wanted to not feel the natural suppression the universe produced against not just outsiders, but native lifeforms as well, the suppression would disappear, leaving him like a fish in water.

Due to these effects, he’d been able to master all of his skills—even though they were all Empyrean grade—within only a few thousand years, and, when in the Heavenly Soul Universe, he could fight as if he was already halfway into B rank.

Speed Steps, Absolute Defense, Destruction Strike, and Regeneration were all simple powerful skills, each representing the peak of the four aspects of speed, defense, destruction, and regeneration, and they were incredibly useful, but it was Isaiah’s Shadow of the Emperor and Shadow of the Empress skills which had together become his fifth trump card, providing the key to his flexibility and use in Mila’s complex plans.

Shadow of the Emperor allowed him to take in Aalam’s energy, store it, and then use that energy to release one of Aalam’s skills, Isaiah usually using it to shadow Aalam’s Ruler’s Domain skill, the amount of Aalam’s energy Isaiah could store good enough to keep Ruler’s Domain active for a little over a day. And Shadow of the Empress allowed the same, only for Mila’s energy and skills, Isaiah usually using it for Ascended Artifact Enhancement, as that skill could provide him with the greatest increase in combat power, but, when he’d fought against Daevic in the Universal Tournament, he’d stored the energy for Mila’s Karmic Eyes skill instead, making sure Aalam’s brother would try to kill him even after Aalam surrendered in his place.

In addition to the power he gained from his race and classes, the increased strength of his bond with Aalam also allowed the boons he received for being Aalam’s head knight to be as strong as those received by Mila, giving him the full effect of three of Aalam’s key racial abilities instead of lower grade versions—albeit not Power of Order or Soul Lord Prince Battle Armor due to the racial restrictions of both.

This doubled the max possible stats of his race, increased his effective Attunement stat and affinities with all Laws, and, most important, allowed him to use extra nascent energy to increase the size of his mental forge and six mana wells to Colossal size, increasing his psyforce by 16 times and his mana by 8 before even forming his core.

Berserker Dragon Chaos Core: Remarkably increases the normal flow rate of qi, mana, and psyforce while greatly increasing their burst potential and ability to break down impurities; raise affinity with all chaos category Laws by 300%; and, when activated using a third of a true dragon's energy, raise all draconic racial abilities and skills by a grade.

As a result, Isaiah’s Berserker Dragon Chaos Core didn’t disappoint, giving him better quality energy than almost any core of those in the United Federation of Planets and one of the best affinity raises as well given just how broad the affinity raise was. Most important, however, was the core’s berserking effect.

If Isaiah in a normal state could raise his power by a factor of four using his berserker skills, his core’s berserking effect, which could be added on top thanks to Dragon Drive being merged into his cultivation technique and Dragon Knight operating through a different mechanism, would raise it by another eightfold, becoming Isaiah’s sixth and final trump card.

Sure, the berserking effect wouldn’t last long, not even in the Heavenly Soul Universe, maybe 15 minutes at most, but, compared to it, his seven advanced and new uniquenesses were almost nothing, even after eating the one fruit generated by the bloodtree his brother had been attached to and using other resources to raise his existing uniquenesses with Aalam’s help.

Perception King: Increase the effectiveness of the Perception stat by 300%.

Slaughter King: Turn a large part of the power of anyone personally killed into raw nascent energy which can be absorbed along with primal energy from kills.

Attunement King: Increase the effectiveness of the Attunement stat by 300%.

Speed King: Increase the effectiveness of the Agility stat by 200% and seriously increase the power of movement category skills.

Defense King: Increase the effectiveness of the Toughness stat by 200% and seriously increase the power of defensive category skills.

Attack King: Increase the effectiveness of the Strength stat by 200% and seriously increase the power of offensive category skills.

Regeneration King: Increase the effectiveness of the Vitality stat by 200% and seriously increase the power of regeneration category skills.

Then, finally, there was Isaiah’s singular oath.

Oath of the Stalwart Guardian

You are the stable influence others can rely on, always striving to improve yourself with noble intensions

Benefits:

Raise your affinity with all Laws

Increase the speed of mastering skills

Increase control over qi, mana, and psyforce

Lower the interference from existing Laws when raising additional ones

The extent of the above benefits are directly related to the purity of your motives at the time

Limitations:

Acting with impure motives will shackle your soul, the greater the impurity the worse the shackles and the longer they will last

Like all three of Aalam’s oaths, while Oath of the Stalwart Guardian did provide some benefits in combat, it was mainly an oath which helped in training, the lower interference from existing Laws when raising additional ones especially useful, and it was an oath which matched very well with Isaiah.

Purity in this case wasn’t about morals but about directness and not lying to oneself, something Isaiah had gotten much better at after thousands of years of therapy, so the benefits he received generally hovered around a 500% increase in affinity with all Laws and a remarkable increase in the speed of mastering skills, control over his energy, and lowered interference from other Laws.

His limitations then, like from most good oaths, wasn’t something he was at all inclined to suffer from, and, if anything, the added punishment for not following his heart was incredibly helpful in keeping his mind healthy.

Emanating a dragon roar through the use of his Chaos Control skill, Isaiah used Aalam’s power to activate his friend’s Ruler’s Domain skill, taking over the entire area around the temporary portal to the Prime Material, and, at the same time, he used Mila’s power to activate her Ascended Artifact Enhancement skill, raising the strength of his already practically unmatched C rank artifacts even further, activated Dragon Knight and Dragon Drive to boost his power by a factor of four, and activated the berserking ability of his core, boosting his power by another factor of eight.

Then, as Mila’s doppelgänger shocked the soul of Horatio Hovimar, the silver-haired subordinate of the Lady of Hellwater who’d just entered the Heavenly Soul Universe, Isaiah called on the universe’s power and activated his Speed Steps skill with a boost from Runic Enhancement, moving faster than most B ranks to arrive in front of the man before activating his Destruction Strike skill to stab at the man’s heart.

Even under Mila’s soul disruption and emotional manipulation magic, however, the man was still able to dodge, Isaiah’s first strike barely missing, and the man managed to barely dodge the next two attacks as well. But then Isaiah’s Aspect of Combat racial ability fully kicked in, boosting his power by another 25%, and that was enough to make the powerful B rank feel despair.

Isaiah’s next attack hit the man’s right arm, then the next the left side of his gut, and then the next right into his heart, chaos-infused pure destruction energy raging inside the man and killing him. Then primal and nascent energy flowed from the man’s soul into Isaiah and Isaiah used his spear to launch the man’s mangled corpse back through the portal, the remaining energy allowing B ranks to pass through fading completely.

Before Isaiah could fully recover from using all his abilities, however, the portal started to grow stronger again, and another B rank flew through, Isaiah having to fight again, and then again, and then again.

“I really hope Aalam can get back soon.” After the fifth fight, Isaiah turned to look at Mila’s doppelgänger, who appeared somewhat worried, and spoke his mind.

“Yeah.” Mila’s doppelgänger nodded. Then, as the sixth B rank flew through the portal, she again triggered her Karmic Eyes and Soul Disruption skills to mess with his soul, enabling Isaiah to barely manage to kill him.

I'm guessing there is some kind of limit that force only one person at a time through the portals, and also a few seconds between each?

right, so if I understand it then here's what's happening: there's a system-created/resource stabilized C rank portal here that will allow a fairly large (possibly continuous) number of C ranks through at a time. This has to do with the demi-plane connecting the universe's not being able to support the energy of higher ranks (I think of it as the 'higher soul dimensions' that store the energy of higher ranks doesn't fit in through the small hole of the portal). The Primordials are investing a bunch of resources into enhancing the demi-plane to allow B ranks through (making the hole temporarily bigger). However, each time they do this they have to 'pay for it' unless they have and invest the resources, energy, and most importantly, time, to make it a permanent B rank portal. They're not doing that immediately (or they're working on it simultaneously) because it takes too long and they only need to find the location of Earth and it's A rank portal to meet their win condition and send opponents Isiah can't beat without Aalam.

I do find the fact they're defending against enemies coming one at a time through a portal a nice call-out to the War of the Chosen. It's a great touch as it shows that War of the Chosen is actually achieving it's goals of preparing youngsters for realistic war conditions. Thanks for the chapters!
