Raven

“Do you really think the Heavenly Spark Soul King will keep his promise to let us leave?”

A large sub-group of the Za’Lord’s Guard were talking in their training compound.

“Do you think if we do leave we won’t just have our memories extracted and our souls destroyed by the United Federation of Planet’s enemies?”

“Why would we even want to leave? We’re part of a force led by C ranks who’ve declared war against the oldest group of gods in the universe and are so far winning.”

“But that won’t continue. The Heavenly Spark Soul King and the others previously had the protection of the tournament, but they’ve lost that now, and have angered actual gods. They won’t survive, and, if we join them, neither will we.”

“What do you think, Raven?”

The large sub-group of the Za’Lord’s Guard turned to look at him and Raven had to fight hard to control his aura to not show just how nervous he was.

Personally, he wanted to run away. The Heavenly Spark Soul King and his wife had declared war against a group of gods—they’d all seen it on the soul net after they’d arrived back on their training grounds—and Raven didn’t like the United Federation of Planet’s chances.

But he was different than the others. First, he, along with Wen Alexis and Master Tedros, would be able to reincarnate with the help of the Heavenly Spark Soul King, entering into a monster tutorial of some newly integrated world, and that was the only way he’d ever make it to B rank, but this was something only the three of them, Zev Ankur, and Endless Will knew of those in the Za’Lord’s Guard, so he couldn’t reveal it. Second, and probably more important, Raven’s brother seemed to be the number three individual in the United Federation of Planets, so, if Raven didn’t stay, he’d be hunted down and used against his brother.

“I’m not sure. But I’m not going to leave. The United Federation of Planets saved my life and helped me get revenge. I owe them too much.”

Everyone, gather in the main courtyard.” Raven suddenly heard a voice in his head, one which sounded exactly like the Heavenly Spark Soul King’s wife, and, from reading the surprised auras of those around him, he wasn’t the only one to hear it.

Quickly, everyone moved to the main courtyard, a large open grassy area in the center of the compound, and there they found the Heavenly Spark Soul King’s wife and Raven’s brother standing on a raised platform on the eastern side

Then, about a minute later when everyone had arrived, the Heavenly Spark Soul King’s wife began speaking. “First, I would like to thank everyone for your hard work. Our goal was to gain over half the points in the C rank Universal Tournament and your help gave us the buffer required to take more risks.”

Raven thought about it for a second and realized that, other than Master Tedros, the only other member of the Za’Lord’s Guard to make it to the top 33 was Li Evelyn who’d been disguised as one of them but was actually a member of the United Federation of Planets. This meant, even without them, the United Federation of Planets would have met its goal.

“Now, for what you’ve all been waiting for. As my husband promised, if you want to leave, you can do so now. Just don’t accept the contract I’m about to send you, leave all the artifacts you’ve received from us, and then step on the teleportation platform. You will be sent out of the Heavenly Soul Universe to a random E or D rank world away from the main territories of any divine factions, and then you’ll be on your own.

“I’m not sure if the Primordial Humans will care about you, but, seeing as you don’t know anything important, there is a good chance they’ll leave you alone.”

The Mistress of Oaths and Deception has sent you a contract request.

Terms:

  1. You will accept the position of citizen in the United Federation of Planets, with all the benefits and obligations that come with
  2. You will not kill other citizens or those of higher rank in cases other than self defense
  3. For any resource you receive from the United Federation of Planets, other than in cases where you are given explicit permission, you are not allowed to in turn give the resource to anyone else

Punishment:

Permanent loss of cultivation

Do you accept?

Yes/No

“For everyone else, if you accept the contract, you will become a citizen of the United Federation of Planets with all the benefits that come with, free to do whatever you want inside this universe so long as it doesn’t cause direct harm to others.

“You will have access to the information related to upgrading your races, classes, and racial abilities up to A rank. You will be able to gain resources depending on your contribution. And you will gain access to the requirements for becoming a god.

“The only downside, for now at least, is that you won’t be able to return to the main universe without a military purpose for at least the near future.”

Raven watched as almost everyone turned to look at each other, the gaining access to the requirements for becoming a god thing very much in everyone’s heads.

“Alright. That is all.” The Heavenly Spark Soul King’s wife smiled at them and Raven felt his heart start to beat faster. “You have 12 days to decide.”

With that, the Heavenly Spark Soul King’s wife and Isaiah started walking toward the teleportation platform, Master Tedros following them, but then Raven heard the Heavenly Spark Soul King’s wife in his head.

Mr. Gale, given the secrets you know, if you don’t accept the contract, I’ll have to have you imprisoned for at least 1,728 years. Just a note.

Raven could see the Heavenly Spark Soul King’s wife smiling at him in his mind and he realized something rather scary. If she could send images and her voice directly into his head, what else could she do in there?

During her speech declaring war on the Primordial Humans, she’d mentioned herself alongside Isaiah and the Heavenly Spark Soul King, with Raven already assuming she was the United Federation of Planet’s number two, but, from his brother who could fight B ranks to the Heavenly Spark Soul King who could slaughter A ranks, there was a large gap, and Raven didn’t know where she fit in.

Rather hurriedly, he accepted the contract. Then he watched as a good 90% of the Za’Lord’s guard immediately made their choices and headed for the teleportation platform.

Who had accepted and who had not, it wasn’t easy to tell. But, when Raven arrived at the teleportation platform, found he only had one possible destination, and teleported to a C rank planet to find a giant modern city, he did a quick count of who was also there while getting an introduction from several of the United Federation of Planet’s own C ranks, and realized about 75% had chosen to stay, only 25% leaving.

And, given the situation the United Federation of Planets was in, at war with a true divine faction, this was surprising to him.

“Raven, Wen, come with me.” Master Tedros walked over to Raven and Wen Alexis, who was with him, and then guided them back to the teleportation platform where, with his help, they teleported to a different planet, seemingly somewhere in the other three quarters of the B rank world where they’d been training since they’d arrived in the Heavenly Soul Universe. There they walked to a giant warehouse storing what looked like thousands of B rank golems, of the type which had kept the members of the Za’Lord’s Guard from leaving their designated area, and Raven realized the true fighting power of the United Federation of Planets was a whole lot higher than he’d at first realized.

“Your reincarnations will have to wait at least a few days.” The Heavenly Spark Soul King’s wife and Isaiah walked over from several Golems which had apparently just been activated, as they flew out of some designated holes in the building’s roof and out into space. “We don’t know how long it will take Aalam to receive the inheritance of Spirit Smith Camoran.

“Until then, I recommend you practice your Laws. No more resources will help, and advancing your skills at this point will be useless, but your knowledge of Laws will help in your next life. I’d especially recommend you decide what Laws you will follow when you reincarnate. Will you use the same ones you’ve practiced in this life, or will you add others into the mix, maybe not train in some of the Laws your current bodies led you to which you don’t like as much.”

“What’s going to happen with your war with the Primordial Humans?” Wen, always the most talkative of the three of them, asked. “When do you think the fighting will start?”

The Heavenly Spark Soul King’s wife smiled at Wen like he was an innocent little boy. “The fighting has already started, Mr. Alexis. The Primordial Humans have already captured the temporary entrance to the Heavenly Soul Universe we teleported through to get back and are in the process of making it permanent. Our golems have already killed several thousand of the D and C ranks they’ve sent through, and the fighting doesn’t look like it will slow down any time soon.”

Raven felt a chill go down his spine at that, but he noticed Isaiah didn’t seem all that nervous, and he realized this had probably been within the Heavenly Spark Soul King’s wife’s calculations.

Mmmh, I wonder why they have to wait, it's not like they can really help until I'm missing something.

possibly aalam needs to pick his boons first, transfer his boon to his sister to ensure she has an honor guard and someone to explain the situation, or potentially to do something with their soul to track them later
