SJ McQuillan

Mark Hamill brings some iconic villains to life, just like Azula's VA., Grey DeLisle, who voiced Lady Briarwood in The Legend of Vox Machine

This is one of my favorite episodes (Zuko and Iroh are my favorite characters!), and I was excited to see you both react to this one. Great and hilarious reaction! Azula is definitely a problem child, and appears to have been this way since she was very young. Although I don't have anywhere near as much empathy for her as I do for Zuko (I know first-hand how it feels to try and get an abusive father to love you; so I relate to and understand Zuko's perspective strongly), I still do see that she was a product of her environment. With a father like that, any kid was bound to come out messed up. Ursa (their mom) saw those traits in her and likely feared them and by doing so, distanced herself from Azula emotionally and favored Zuko. This was understandable, considering that Ozai appeared to have no love at all for his son and saw him as 'weak' - because at his core, Zuko is kind-hearted like his mother and that is not what Ozai wants from his potential heir. I love this episode because Zuko in a way goes back to being his true self, someone who opposes injustice and mistreatment of others, during his time with the Earth Kingdom family.
