Remember the clone wars show is after the attack of the clones movie at the end they got married in secret. It's against the jedi way to have attachments.

I think under one of the YouTube comments someone mentioned that since their marriage was a secret and they couldn’t wear rings, they switched droids. So R2 is Padme’s droid and 3PO is Anakin’s droid. Probably also explains why Anakin’s also a lot kinder to R2. I really enjoy the Padme/Anakin’s storylines wish we had gotten more from them during the Clone War series.

This storyline reminds me of Mission Impossible 2 where Tom Cruise and Anthony Hopkins pimp out Thandie Newton who spies on her ex and gets poisoned.
