This episode starts out with a tribute to the acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa and also is an homage to one of his greatest films "Seven Samurai" where a village is beset by bandits and enlist the help of 7 Ronin (or master-less samurai). With the 4 Bounty Hunters and our 3 Jedi we complete our full set of 7 heroes. Also George Lucas has stated many times that his original inspiration for Star Wars in the 70s drew heavily on Kurosawa's work along with Dune, the Flash Gordon serial TV show and a little bit of Christianity symbolism (Vader, Luke and the Force -- The Father, Son and Holy Spirit as an example). Just a bit of trivia for us Star Wars nerds out there. :D Oh and PS that pirate leader was Hondo Ohnaka. You'll get to see a lot more of him as we continue through CW and Rebels.

Yep that's his first appearance in CW but they didn't remember him. :D But he's a really fun character and one of my favorites.
