Composite Creativity

A couple things: 1. This is indeed Michael Giacchino’s first directing job. 2. The monster is Ted Sallis AKA Man-Thing. The MCU has alluded to him a few times prior to this. One was a line by Maria Hill in the first season of “Agents of SHIELD” where she references “a Man-Thing.” There’s also a sculpture of his head among the ones on the Grandmaster’s tower in Thor: Ragnarok, which is usually an honor reserved for any gladiators he liked the most (which means Ted was on Sakaar at some point and fought in the arena before somehow getting back to Earth). Man-Thing is actually more important to the Multiverse Saga than people think. He usually operates in the Florida Everglades and guards the entrance to the Nexus of All Realities, which is a gateway to travel to any dimension in the multiverse or anywhere in between dimensions (like where the Watcher lived in “What If”). 3. There is another Marvel Special Presentation coming in December, which is the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
