BTW, I assumed that since this is based off of just one novel AND the original 1980 TV miniseries was only 5 episodes that this would be a limited run single season show and even after watching entire season now (3 times!) I thought that was it. BUT apparently it's confirmed to always have been a 3 season show. Which is such great news. I'm usually on top of that kind of news but like I said I assumed too much and my buddy, who's not a TV/Film freak like WE are here, told me about it. Also apparently the 1980 show was good it just wasn't as authentic to Japanese culture as this one is. Obviously, because I mean it was 1980 in America and even having a show like this on primetime was a big cultural step. Beheadings, Japenese culture and the like on TV in 1980 was definitely pushing the boundaries A LOT. This show being produced by Hiroyuki Sanada (Toranaga) himself added a lot more attention to detail and authenticity.

It was originally supposed to be a single season but then after the show ended, news came out that they're planning subsequent seasons. Personally, they shouldn't have announced it was going to be a single season then reverse that decision. It's really just because the series gained so much popularity and now they're riding that high. I think they should leave it as-is and not do anymore seasons lol people can appreciate it for what it is
