Can't wait to see the director's commentary for this one.

All the flashlight nerds watching this are crying.

Anonymous

That was fucking cool and creepy. Damn those tumbleweeds.

Cowboy Grey is coolest Grey

Anonymous

When I saw a sign in Cyrillic, my first thought was that he'd travelled to Russia to track to the origins of the tumbleweed

directors commentary needed

At first, I thought the car's warning tones were swearing bleeps ; ) https://youtu.be/ABMV4wXx6Xo?t=31

My dad works there. That's pretty cool.

Anonymous

I have been playing way too much Half Life Alyx to go into an abandoned facility like that. Creepy as hell.

Anonymous

Did the paint on the car hold up? :)

CGP Grey: TEKOI! Me: Gesundheit!

Evan Allen

Little bit of fallout, some half life 2, some portal 2. I'm surprised all that tech and furniture was still there. I love that vt220 on the desk

If Arizona Sunshine taught me anything, it is that if you would have looked in the other cabinets you would have found some magazines.

Lol 1st adversary...tumbleweeds

Anonymous

loved it! next up, and probably less creepy: the Chernobyl sarcophagus

Anonymous

Hey, I don't live too far from there! How does one get one of those keys? I'd love to go exploring there myself!

Anonymous

Dude, Awesome. Was there an asbestos risk?

Anonymous

I have many questions, starting with "why do you not carry a maglite or similar?" And then "why?" And "how did you get a key to the front gate lock?"

Anonymous

That's so Fallout

Anonymous

Wait I am so confused - why do they have sign in Russian there?

Anonymous

Excited to watch! Thanks Grey for all the work you do to make these happen

Gary Virta

From the reddit thread: 'Russian signage on the perimeter of the facility is due to the fact that this site was designated as "inspectable" for Russian inspectors as part of the START Treaty (as were other sites in Utah that were used for the development and storage of submarine launched ballistic missiles, at Oasis, Hill AFB, and ATK at Magna).'

We need pictures of the teslas hood and bumper

Anonymous

How were you able to obtain permission to explore?

Thomas Knudsen

Greys gait... A gait spoiler? That's... actually cutting it confusingly close to a face spoiler. I just want to think of him as a friendly, and sometimes maniacal, bot.

Misuvva

nice cowboy hat grey! looks good on ya

I used to live Tooele just over the mountain ridge. What the heck!?! That would have been awesome!

Generally asbestos is fine to be around if it’s undisturbed. Tons of older homes contain pipe insulation or exteriors containing asbestos which are no major threat. The big danger it poses is when you’re removing it and it starts sending its fibers into the air you’re breathing.

Heads up if any of you want to open watertight and/or bunker doors with latches ('dogs') like that: the handles of the dogs should be against the stops when 'unlocked'. However, sometimes they over-rotate when open, like the one at the 3- o'clock position on the second bunker. So, Grey was most of the way there when trying to open the first one- but was locking the 12- and 6- o'clock dogs. And once you get them open, they love to stick...

So so cool. Like watching a first person exploration video game.

Return at night to unlock the special horror film level

Is this Marble Hornet's canon? Is Grey the Operator?

Anonymous

This is during the Tesla roadtrip a couple of years back I guess? Is this where you got the idea for the tumbleweed videos?

Anonymous

I enjoy doing exploration myself so this was fun to watch. Also love the weed connection.

I looked this place up and there seems to be some uncertainty about when it was abandoned but I had to look at the time magazine cover archive when I saw it at 5:40. That particular cover was from April 1988

don't be gentle, it's a rental!

Timing ended up coming out slightly off from where I had it, but oh well https://j.gifs.com/vlp33n.gif CGP Gif

You forgot to hand back your badge when leaving…

Driving anywhere near tumbleweed is a great way to get a flat tire. Don't do that!

Anonymous

It's like watching one of those end of the world video games. Grey going through the filing cabinet reminds me of looking for clues on how the world ended. See, I'll do stuff like this, but my fiancé says it's just way too creepy.

Anonymous

I'd be down for a shiey/Grey collab video

I just upgraded my membership to get access to the director's commentaries and I'm sad to find out that there isn't one for this video? :( A little strange that there's one for the previous and later videos. Is there going to be one done for this still? Please say yes!

Anonymous

the video posted today says there will be a directors commentary for it "later today"
