Once when i was a child some kid commented that I had some blue and red in my hair, I was concerned because my mom had dyed my hair often and I wonder what it could be. But I could never see it myself.

Later in my life, someone explained that my hair was so dark it appeared blue, like a raven. Since then I have described my hair "raven black".

I've implemented this when drawing black hair now because black hair isn't just black and white. It has underlining colors, some people have cold colors or warm colors underneath. My hair seems to be cold while my skin is warm (blue vs red, brown=warm)
