Here's a gif of how I worked this picture out. I basically just saved each layer to put into a gif. The images below are the frames by itself.

So with the lineout figured out, I throw on the base colors and some details. With a multiply layer on top, I give it the purple shadow. Then steadily I work through the picture like a painting. I put a new layer on top to clean out details. I add another layer if I want to work on a different area without having to be concerned with another part.

You can see that I didn't care to shade in the lines because I would paint over them anyway. The shadows or colors that are outside the outline I just paint over with the white or blue, and sometimes erase it. It just makes it easier for me because of convenience.

Then after all that I put a multiply layer with low opacity to give it that shine. Or maybe I used overlay with low opacity. I don't remember. Either way it just allows me to put on a highlight to the drawing without having to mess with the base color or shadows (since I put it on a layer on top)
