This episode was good, but I was expecting just a bit more of Din and Bo-Katan given how they were the sole focus of the opening. I like Dr. Pershing as a character, but I'm not sure if we needed to spend most of an episode with him. At the very least, I think some scenes could have been trimmed down. Don't get me wrong, I think the episode has a lot going for it (Coruscant looked amazing minus a few shots here and there, and the worldbuilding was excellent); however, I feel like most of this show's runtime per episode should be spent with the title characters, especially when you only have eight episodes per season. I wouldn't mind an episode like this as much if the seasons were 12-13 episodes. I'm happy though that most people seem to really have enjoyed this particular chapter. I'm very curious as to where the story is going to go from here.

Man, time really is a flat circle. When we met Bo Katan in Clone Wars, she was second-in-command to Pre Viszla (first wielded of the darksaber we ever saw), part of his Death Watch terrorist group. After their alliance with Maul ended in Pre being executed, Bo left with her subgroup, the Nite Owls, rather then submit to Maul as leader of Death Watch and shadow ruler of Mandalore. She eventually teamed with Ahsoka and the Republic to in “Siege of Mandalore” to retake the planet, only for Order 66 to ruin that time. stuff happens in Rebels; not sure how far you got so i’ll leave it Now, we see her abandoned by the Nite Owls and stuck joining the descendant of Pre Viszla, Paz Vislza in “The Watch”. Notice the big guy, Paz, was the only one not to welcome her - he must know the history. On the same token - Mando is the only live action show we have to take us to post-ROTJ Coruscant. The movies never showed us the capital of the galaxy, even the original trilogy did not take us there. We see first a party of the elite class, who are so detached from the galaxy they barely know the difference between regimes. Pershing and Kane visit a very, VERY gaudy looking tourist trap, but in this Imperial “amnesty program”, they live in modest housing, with alphanumeric designations rather than names. Just as the Empire buried the Republic’s remains(And tried to exterminate the Jedi), the New Republic is trying to scrap traces of the Empire, except….it turns out they just rebranded the brainwashing machine. The “good guys” government isn’t quite so different than the one it replaced on certain levels.

“Elia”? More like “A liar” am I right?

Holden adding the “Peace be with you, Peace be with you” adlib when the Mandos are congratulating Bo had me dying laughing 😭😂

Oh, and I’d say the Armorer is a religion fundamentalist focused on adherence and preservation of specific practices and beliefs, while Bo Katan is a nationalist that has long been disillusioned by the old religion and more focused on the return of Mandalore and its people to power

Deliberate. Focused. Unafraid of lingering. No reliance on force shenanigans.

Jedi Mandalore (Dylan)

I personally loved this episode felt like a mix of Andor and Mando with nice range of aliens, something Andor lacked along with showcasing a more colourful and art deco depiction of Coruscant instead of the more brutalist cold depiction of the city which suited the Imperial rule. Loved that we saw a good amount of iconic landmarks from the films and tv shows like Clone Wars. Also loved how they showcased the everyday life of a former Imperial now under the New Republic rule it was an interesting episode that did far more worldbuilding for the New Republic than any other media for me in canon. We saw how mixed Andor was for Star Wars fans for being different so I'm not too surprised that some Mandalorian fans were taken aback by this episodes massive change of pace. One second you're watching a Saturday morning cartoon and the next you're diving into the politics and drama of former imperial members trying to find their way under the New Republic with events and topics inspired by 1984. Very different change in overall tone and one that will not go over with every fan. But yeah this episode gives you an idea of how Andor is paced more of a character drama in a more grounded setting. I could definitely see this being a left over from the Rangers of the New Republic show that was cancelled so they used an episode idea and placed it in Mandalorian Season 3 to develop the New Republic while also showing the Imperials infiltrating the New Republic. It just seems very out of place and Rangers sounded like the perfect show for an episode like this.

This episode of Ando... I mean the Mandalorian was great, any world building is great in my book. Also no lazy writing, they are definitely setting up the return of a big bad and the rise of the first order. In the vs of Star Wars shows its 2-1 Bad Batch. (BTW the vs is ligit just for fun, its obviously not a fair comparison as Bad Batch has 3 episodes left that will most likely be 8,9 and 10/10s were as Mando is just setting up)

Also, she is definitely still with the Empire and has ether killed the Doctor or is gonna spin it to be like "omg I never knew what the New Republic would do, how bout some Empire for you"(got dem rhythms). She'll spin it to make him think the Empire is better than the new Republic because he doesn't know that she was the one that up'd the voltage. So if he tells her, she can pretend to be shocked and return him to Moff Gus

I definitely agree! It for sure had serious Andor vibes. From what I’ve seen online yesterday and today, it’s been a pretty divisive episode, like any that break away from the main characters have the tendency to be. But honestly in terms of themes, story, and world building, this has been my favorite episode of the season by far. That could be just me wanting to know how the new republic is functioning, but I had a great time.

Star Wars fans will never be happy. I didn't like the last 2 episodes for example cause I wasn't invested in Mando being redeemed but now that's over and the empire are back. I'm all in
