This is a standard questions episode but I was pretty surprised how nuanced we were able to get with the first question. As always, we could never put out content at the pace or quality that we do without help from you all. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all so much :)

Hi Bliss, I can really relate to what you’re saying about learning the tools that fashion school provides. My grandfather was a Taylor and worked as a fabric buyer and pattern maker in a Menswear company in Berlin in the fifties and my mother became a dressmaker working for women’s ready to wear and formal garments. She worked in our home and would pick up the materials from the atelier and do everything from cutting the pattern to hand finishing. I was able to see the entire process and helped out with the hand sewing, making a few bucks on the side. The finished pieces were taken to the atelier. Each was put on a dress form and only accepted if it was perfect. This is where your video triggered the memory of being told that the seems were “1/8 inch of and unexceptable !” The scrutiny was tough before a garment was excepted, but that’s how you make quality products.
