I am not a fan of fur or anything and I don’t believe in wearing it myself, but there are interesting new takes on sustainable and humane trapping that blow the idea that killing for fur is ALL bad. The book “Braiding Sweatgrass” dives into the notion that human interaction with nature can be reciprocal and mutually supportive. I am not saying we should be wearing fur, as, I would guess that overall the industry is super corrupt and harmful but there is a beautiful example in the book of a trapper that illustrates how he is actually helping the martens population where he lives in Canada thrive by selectively trapping males and other humane and sustainable practices which actually helps the martens succeed overall.
