An author's nightmare scenario (Patreon)
Content
TL;DR: A writer I know and like has has the Amazon launch of his first book buggered up by the Amazon Web Services outage. It's a fun litRPG about an orc chef, and it deserves some attention:

One of the great things about becoming an author has been the chance to get to know other writers. There's a bloke I've come to know called Actus, and I've been having a great time with his current Royal Road story, a steampunk fantasy litRPG.
An earlier story of his is a litRPG about an orchish chef. The first book came out today on Amazon, which I know from experience is a nerve-wracking experience, and the thing you always dread is something going horribly wrong. In his case, there was a massive outage in Amazon Web Services, throwing a huge wrench into the launch of his debut book. This is the kind of nightmare scenario for authors that I personally dread.
I'm not a big fan of marketing in general, even my own stuff. I like make the occasional shout-out on discord for other authors I've come to know when I enjoy their work, but it's something I've generally kept away from the Patreon. After seeing someone whose writing I enjoy getting tripped up as he comes out of the gate, though, I felt compelled to offer him some support.
So, if you like the idea of a fun story where the main character of a litRPG is an orcish chef - and anyone who has read my story should certainly realise that I do - then please do check it out. Those who enjoy Jason's cooking adventures should especially find something fun waiting for them.
