Short Break in June (Patreon)

TL;DR: Taking the first week of June off to go help my mum.

I would really prefer not to take another break so soon after the slowdown in April. During my break, however, my mum was hospitalised twice. I am going to go over and see her, and arrange home help so she can keep living independently. She lives on the other side of the country to me, so going over there is a whole thing.

I'm sorry to do this, but I get along much better with my mum than Jason does and she needs to be my priority.

At some stage, the plan is to get a chapter buffer in place to cover events like this. I have been extremely busy with non-writing things this year, especially since getting back from the US. The month off was fun, but most of it was catching up on things rather than having time to rest. I'm not at the point of burnout, as my 3/week schedule is giving me the breathing room to get by when the old 5/week did not, but I am feeling quite exhausted. That's unfortunate to say, less than two weeks after a break, but here we are.

For the rest of the year, I'll be taking time off to attend Dragon Con (hope to see you there) and probably a bit of time on either side of that to just rest. Then I will be taking December off entirely. I'll go see my mum again for Christmas, but mostly take some proper R&R. No extra work, no vacations, just getting myself charged up for hitting the new year running.

With enough rest, writing is such a fantastic job to have. I love sitting down and bringing this world to life as best I can. I am so grateful to you all for giving me this busy but amazing life.
