This episode on a rewatch is really good cuz you can reread all of the dialogue and understand everything. You have to give it up to the animators for making this masterpiece of an episode in the conditions they were put in 🔥

The episode was already fantastic before, the blu ray version added a few frames which makes it even better! The end shocked everyone a bit with Yuji's defeat and what happened to Choso, you'll understand everything later. I can't wait! And remember the death painting story in first season you'll need it!

This episode is actually peak directing. I never ONCE up until now noticed their use of the “No Walking” signs, how it repeatedly shows them to indicate danger (twice when he’s running into Choso, and once in the very final shot of the episode when we know whats coming next for Yuji with the signed being covered in blood and CLEAVED in half). Not to mention the other signs, like the neon ones in the subway. And using them to indicate Choso’s range capabilities while they explained it. So fucking SICK.

"What's wrong with the creator of this show", "why did I start watching this", the entire JJK fandom asks these things weekly. 😂 I can see you're truly one of us now. For real though this is one of the best fights in the manga and the animation team put so much love into every second of it. Even the various street signs are part of the story, before the fight they're all warning Yuji of danger and he's ignoring them.

This episode wasn't that different to the TV version, save for a few shots were they redesigned Choso. In general, the blu-ray mainly just removes ghosting and dimming, with the exception of episode 17 where they reanimated like half the cuts and even brought some animators back to do some completely new cuts for the blu-ray. The reason why this episode looked a bit different from the others is that it had a slightly better schedule, which allowed the staff to create the 3D backgrounds using real footage from shibuya station to make them look better.

Another double from based god flexie 🙏🙏🙏 Absolutely loved your reaction to this ep. Most of the differences are pretty minimal in the bluray tbh. There's a few color corrections here and there, some tiny details fixed, and some of choso's poses are drawn a bit differently but that's about it. Aside from the ghosting and dimming this is pretty much 90% the same as what aired on CR. Honestly though the removal of ghosting and dimming is already enough to make the bluray worth it. You truly spoil us, bless 🙏🙏

It’s not always clear on first watch what they’re wanting you to see @ 27:54, but that swirl is showing Yuji and Choso’s blood coming into contact. I will explain no further lol. This pain train has no brakes! Choo choo mofos!

The lighting was improved but I think the biggest difference is the saturation of colors. The Blu-ray makes it easier to understand what’s happening. I will say that ending scene with Choso losing his mind, that looked different. The editing was pretty much the same, but the composition and lighting was vastly improved. Definitely the best episode to remove your dimming, I can’t thank you enough.

I know CR switched it to bluray up to at least episode 7, I don't know about the rest of the season but all the dimming/ghosting was gone from Hidden Inventory and the Mechamaru fight last time I saw.

Really appreciate the fact that you got emotional thinking about Yuji in this episode. To me it just shows that you're genuinely invested into this series and characters, and you understand that there is a lot at stake. Always gives me chills whenever Yuji affirms his resolve and says, "I understand what my role is," and "I don't have to be the one to rescue Gojo-sensei." It's what really seperated Yuji from the vast majority of shonen MCs. Yuji said he'd die to save those around him and he stood on business right there

Sukuna doesn't care about Yuji. He was literally just talking shit but then was surprised Choso didn't finish the job. Also when Choso and yuji were squaring up and their hands were almost touching, that's a reference to an awesome movie called The Raid Redemption, specifically the sequel The Raid 2!

Never noticed every step Choso takes leading up to the memory scene makes black bars temporarily appear on the side that eventually turn into the black side bars beside the memory to show it in the 4:3 aspect ratio VHS style. Then after the memory it switched back to normal widescreen 16:9 ratio before it pulls the camera back into the elevator to re-add the black side bars back to 4:3 again with the doors of the elevator. Very creative editing.

Idk why but you have to buy a Japanese version, they've been slow for the international release. it has English subs so no worry, just have to go through Ebay or a third party re-seller. Just do your research on the individual you're buying from first.

Also this is one of the coolest raw hands rights I've seen. I remember it in the manga, SO SICK! Sorry for the edits, do you recognize Choso's VA? :D Also, the end of the fight is a remix of REMEMBERANCE from the Choso/Kechizu x Nobara x Yuji fight, in case you don't recognize the tune. :3 AH derp, disregard, you caught that!
