You know always find it mildly amusing, that when people are watching a show about time travel, their minds will often go to other forms of explanation. It's a doppelganger rather than the same person from a different point in time. Given the other circumstances from the story, that was a plausible option too. But time travel often never seems to be the first answer to mind, in a majority of cases. You're far from alone in this. When Martha was talking about her cousin Adeola who died at Canary Wharf. This was an acknowledgement and call back to the series 2 two part finale. When this actress, Freema Agyeman, also played that part. They liked her, so asked her back, and came up with that to slightly explain their identical appearance.
