Not everything they expected? Not sure you realized the gravity of the depressing end there. Note the geiger counter ticking at the 'first handful of Earth' Bill picked up. It's a nuclear wasteland that appears even more inhospitable than Caprica :D They've spent 4 seasons looking for Earth because their old home became a nuclear wasteland, and found Earth to be another nuclear wasteland, and they may as well have stayed on Caprica. Its completely uninhabitable. There's no 'rebuilding Earth' any more than they could rebuild Caprica :( Massive gutpunch after that celebration scene.

I didn't clock on to the geiger counter noise not gonna lie! I mean the fact that they're essentially back to square one now is even more exciting than I thought. Everytime they think they've hit the jackpot they end up back on Galactica which is tragic but this is probably the worst scenario considering they've been searching for earth for so long. This is a big thing to happen this late into the season, very curious where it's gonna go!

This episode was almost the series finale of the show. It would’ve been the biggest downer in the history TV. Production was halted on the show because of the writer’s strike in the fall 2007, and if the registration lasted too much longer Universal would have discontinued the show as it was too expensive to keep everyone in their contracts. As it is, we had to wait a full year after this episode for the remaining 10.

The biggest shock was the viewers always assuming that Galactica would show up at our modern day earth when they finally got here. But I guess we all died in a nuclear holocaust.
