So it's not that Hikari didn't take the star tiara she just refused to use the glimmer of all the other girls instead taking the burden of fueling it completely on herself. Considering the impact it had on her in episode 8 when she was just one of seven people providing it would obviously be way worse of a burden. The reason Karen still lost her glimmer while the others didn't is that Hikari and their promise was Karen's glimmer (her most important thing as a stage girl). Considering her experience in episode 8 she should have realized that without herself Karen wouldn't have a reason to be a stage girl. It's an interesting character flaw of Hikari's where she tries to do a good thing but focuses too much on a very specific end goal that ends up with the same result. Just like earlier in the season when she tries to lock up Karen to protect her from losing in the auditions but as Karen points out she would just lose by default then.
