I'm glad I'm a fan of anime, because I get to experience fantastic movies like this one. It's filled with so many good messages about trying to be a better person and also trying to understand others. It's also a simple story, yet really well done, very much in line with KyoAni's themes of the wonders and quandaries of everyday life. There's one part where the subtitles kind of fail and it looks like Shoko says she's dying. But, she's saying "ganbatte nano ni", or "But, I'm trying so hard." Which is really a testament to her character. She wants to be kind, friendly and happy, but circumstances make it so much difficult for her and at that moment she just breaks and let's it all out, getting into a fight with Shoya. There's no shortage of good anime movies out there and I hope to see and enjoy more reactions to them.
