I really don't think it was Crump. Even if he was capable of murder, I don't feel a gun would be his weapon of choice, or even the sort of thing he could get his hands on without notice and then dispose of so thoroughly. Doesn't rule out it being a random act of violence by someone no witness spotted (or if you've followed the case, the mysterious taller black man spotted next to the body by police that was found not to be Crump in court), but I don't find that convincing either. There might be a wilderness of mirrors here, but when someone dies in a house of spooks, it's probably the spooks who did it.

Great episode! I didn’t hear mentioned (but maybe it was) that this case contains an extremely clear cut instance of Bill Bradlee perjuring himself. He told one story under oath and another in his book. Also, the case against Mitchell is pretty extensive. Transcript of Mitchell deposition is on Janney’s web site. Tldr Mitchell denies up and down that he’d ever worked in any intelligence capacity then Janney gets his records & Mitchell was lying. Crump girlfriend maybe came off sounding like him lying, but Dovey Roundtree spoke to her personally and had an affidavit from her confirming his story. I haven’t heard any stories about Crump being violent before he was imprisoned and likely abused.

Went down a rabbit hole of my own when they mentioned Angleton's wife, Cicely Harriet d'Autremont. Apparently she -- along with her daughters from James (Truffy and Lucy) -- became followers of Harbhajan Singh Khalsa, popularly known as "Yogi Bhajan". He was a guru that was accused of sexually abusing his followers, which independent investigations found to be "most likely true". Truffy and Lucy wound up changing their names to "Guru Sangt Kaur Khalsa" and "Siri Hari Kaur Angleton-Khalsa." Not something you'd expect from the family of one of the notoriously evil operatives in US history. My dad's a retired defense attorney and he says one of the old tricks when you could smoke in the courtroom was to put a pipe cleaner on your cigar to get the jury to look at your crazy-long ash and not listen to the opposition

Brace in last few ep. has been too often evaluating all the women they discuss on their attractiveness. Like Liz rarely adds comments like that. When spoken about rarely it’s just a comment , but when it’s most women he speaks about , and it’s always one of the first comments you make about her- plus always highest praise to the most Hollywood/conventionally attractive ones too.
