Something missing from the story about CHAZ, the so called autonomyous zone in seattle is that those shootings happened outside the zones AND there signifcabtly LESS shootings in the city during the time it existed including in that neighborhood. It was stupid occuoy redux shit and it annoyed the fuck out of me at the time BUT even mentioning the shooting reinforces the right wing narrative that it was a dangeroys and harmful project wheb it was axtually just a corny waste of time.

people always do this lmao, brace and Liz (and most left podcasters) were kind of dismissive of that whole movement and thus do not care enough to get it right, the northwest was actively in the streets through November.

Fun fact: I helped organise the treasury of a spontaneously emerged BLM affiliated branch in England during the 2020 stuff. We received about ~£450 iirc, but we only spent about 100 on sound equipment. I was left with the £350, and despite me asking around, I couldn’t give the money back to anyone. There’s absolutely zero financial oversight on how branches are run or how funds are used, it’s actually insane these people call themselves Marxists. Only time I’ve actually received Soros bucks.
