Re SEALS, a friend of mine is a Deep State Guy. Ten-year vet of the army, combat as an enlisted artilleryman in Gulf War I, as a Cav Scout officer in Bosnia. Anyway, he told me that about five years ago he and a friend cut out of work early on a Friday and went to some famous Deep State DC bar to day-drink their way into the weekend. They weren't there long when about five or six SEALS came in and my friend said they were all recognized as such by the clientele -- this is a Pentagon hang. Electricity rippled through the room, verging on applause and an ovation. Rock stars in the hizzy! So these SEALs sit down and start hitting the booze hard, swapping stories and guffawing, and my friend said these stories just kept getting more and more horrible the drunker they got until these assholes were loudly admitting to out and out war crimes and laughing about them until they cried. My friend said that tables cleared out around them as the other patrons grew more and more disgusted until they pretty much cleared the room. Tl;dr: Fuck SEALS.

FWIW. Harry Shearer is probably one of the most vocal critics of the Gov't's handling of Katrina. His show, Le Show, actually deals with the topic quite a bit and I don't think I've ever heard anyone MORE critical of the Army Corp of Engineers. Harry Shearer go on True Anon.

Yeah, I guess I go back in forth between the Brace/Liz Maoist perspective and then also wanting to give China under Xi the benefit of the doubt since they are setting goals and seem to be meeting them. It’s hard to approach a country like China from a Marxist perspective when all of the information that we get about it is propaganda one way or the other. I guess we westerners can’t and shouldn’t really be involved, so it’s gonna play out the way it plays out.

yeah, I think that is a good way to put it. I am deeply not anti-China, and am genuinely curious about how that project plays out. They are really good at whatever it is they've set out to do. Personally, reading Mao, it seems like they are fairly far away from what he thought, but who the hell am I to say. Hear that on the propaganda. Shortcomings of English being the "global language" - a lot of the subversive shit is probably lost on us. Cheers to you!
