ALT2 is a successor of ALT1. It improves on the quality, brings new features, and also merges ALT1: Skintones ( https://www.ddsworkshop.net/alt1_skintones ) and ALT1: Facepack ( https://www.ddsworkshop.net/alt1_facepack ) into the mod. Female characters only. Does not include Afflicted & Vampires, I'm gonna do those separately later (I've got some ideas!)

The archives are divided into 3 versions:

  • 4K Uncompressed (everything uncompressed save a few options you MIGHT want compressed, like teeth or eyebrows because your char uses something else, but you still need something for the NPCs for 'cheaper' amount of VRAM. Powerful PCs only)
  • 2K-4K Balanced (specular maps DXT1-ned, head & hands in 2K, 4K bodies, plus a couple of downsized options like smaller normalmaps and _sk maps)
  • 4K Compressed (everything DXT1-ned, lighter than if it was 2K uncompressed plus some downsized options like smaller normalmaps and _sk maps, and maybe hands & faces compressed in 2K DXT1 - should be potato-pc* friendly!)

* Note: when I say 'potato PC' I probably do NOT mean the minimal requirements for running Skyrim, but something that *at least* could comfortably run Medium Settings at stable-ish 60 fps. The Compressed options reduces the amount of VRAM used, but the textures can still be quite heavy on the GPU due to resolution (calculating everything in 4K takes time & power). So, compression solves the VRAM problem, but not the power problem. You may want to try and use optional files with reduced resolutions (you can also cut VRAM usage by 700-800 MB that way!)

These textures are amazing. Thank you for sharing your work. One thing I am noticing is that the hands on the males have mismatched textures. They seem to be using the default vanilla textures, the imperial males hands were really weird. So I looked at the textures set in Xedit and noticed that the imperial male had the body textures mapped to the hand. I at least was able to make the hands look like the rest but the textures are still not matching the one I use (SAM Light Texture Addon). Would you know how to fix this?

Thanks! I did not make ALT2 with SAM (of any kind) in mind. If SAM for some reason edits the skins (even though I don't remember it providing unique skintones to races, so I don't know what SAM is doing with HANDS edits anyway - my edits are just replicating vanilla). You'll have to make a patch for SAM manually or alternatively, you can ask somebody on my Discord server about it: https://discord.gg/dcVbwqQ
