[Important!] All Good Things Must Come to an End (Patreon)

Hey hey, everyone! As you might suspect from the title, my Patreon as it currently operates will be ending at the end of this month, and will switch to just being a tip jar as of next month. Please read on for IMPORTANT information on what you guys need to do to avoid being charged for future months!

Will I still be charged? Do I have to cancel my membership?

YES, you need to ensure you manually cancel your membership yourself to avoid future charges to your account!

This Patreon and all of the posts on it will continue to be accessible as per usual up to and including June 27th, PST! On June 28, I’ll begin the process of deleting all existing tiers. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do on my end to cancel your guys’ memberships. Even after I delete the tiers, you guys will just be switched to “No Tier” patrons, but will continue to be signed up for the same monthly amounts you currently pay.

To avoid being charged, go to the “Manage Memberships” option that appears in the top-right menu and cancel your membership to my Patreon there before July 1st!

If you don’t do this, you will be charged at the start of next month (and every month after that until you cancel), but will not receive any Patreon rewards, as I will no longer be producing them. Unless you’re feeling particularly generous and want to keep patroning me purely for the sake of supporting me, please ensure you cancel your membership.

If tiers are being removed, will I lose access to past Patreon art?

YES, you guys will permanently lose access to Patreon posts on the 28th when tiers are deleted, so I recommend you download any Patreon-exclusive content you’d like to keep before then!

Why is the Patreon ending?

While it has honestly been a ton of fun to do this, and also flattering that so many of you guys have joined up, I think it will overall be better for my development as an artist to move away from this model.

The monthly cycle of Patreon has a certain rigidity to it that tends to dominate my schedule more than commissions, which allow for more flexibility. And while it does allow me to essentially be paid to work on personal art, it also restricts me, both in terms of what content I can produce and at what pace I have to deliver it. And of course, it means that the art I work the hardest on and am the proudest of never sees the light of day outside of the limited audience here!

I believe I can meet my financial needs more effectively through taking commission work, while leaving myself more breathing room for personal art and art studies. This will actually result in being able to produce art similar to what I would be drawing for the Patreon, but also being able to post it publicly rather than behind a paywall! So it’s really a win-win for everyone, since you guys will be able to continue enjoying what I produce without having to pay anything. :3

Can I show the Patreon art I save to people that weren’t patrons after the Patreon ends?

Feel free to share Patreon art privately to your friends, but please do not post it publicly anywhere, or post it to any group chats or Discord servers. To respect that you guys have been paying for exclusive access to this art, I will keep it private for at least a couple months. After that I will likely post some of it to my social media, since no one benefits from keeping it private forever. ^^

How will the new tip jar Patreon work? When can I join it?

At some point late this month or early next, after deleting all current tiers, I will re-launch this Patreon purely as a tip jar for supporting my creative efforts, most likely with a single $3 tier. If you guys would be interested in supporting me through it, please keep an eye on my FurAffinity, Twitter, or Telegram channel for a notice of when it’s opened! Will you ever do Patreon rewards again?

Only time will tell! If at some point in the future I feel like I can offer rewards that will either better help my development as an artist or better allow me to financially support myself so that I can create even more content, I will certainly be ready to consider doing a Patreon again.

But for right now, at least, the flexibility and visibility of keeping my work freely and openly available is more valuable to me.
