Hey everyone, it’s Kaneko.

Here’s my dormitory diary entry for September.

Since around mid-August, the whole company from producers to touch-up artists have been working double-time as we’re doing the final QA on a batch of films. I’m currently in the process of doing some last-minute re-takes on in-betweens while making new ones as soon as the new keyframes get the go-ahead.

I had been working all-nighters since we got a lot of rush orders that were due the very next day. I was going home to the dorm at irregular times, so I lost track of the days of the week.

One of the hardest tasks I've done recently was a cut where three characters came running from out of frame, stopped in the middle of the scene, and then ran to the foreground and then out of frame after saying their lines. In terms of actual frames, it was about 50 drawings, but having 3 characters in the same cell made it difficult. I got it done with the help of my co-workers...but it took about 90 frames including drafts…

Off-topic, but one of my best friends from junior high school had her first child the other day. We've been separated since high school, but we've kept in touch. I can’t believe she’s already a mother! She and her child both seem to be in good health, and I hope that continues as they grow together.

7 to 8 hours sleep at least, to stay healthy (and sane)
