April Dormitory Diary Entry - Okabe (Patreon)

Thank you for your support. This is Okabe. I’m now heading into my second year in animation.

The newest batch of hires is officially part of the studio! There’re way more people in this batch than there were in mine.

I’ve heard some spooky rumors that a lot of the new hires were working remotely with the studio before officially being hired. Apparently, some of them are really skilled. As their senior, I’ll be in charge of checking their work next month, but honestly, I’m not sure I’ll have anything to teach them. It concerns me.

The people in my hiring batch were mostly really shy, and I spent that Spring quietly. This new batch seems lively, though, which makes me happy.

As for my work, we’ve finished our in-house projects and, for the first time in a long time—maybe ever—We’re working on outsourced projects…

Every time we change projects, we have to work under different guidelines, so drawing and organizing all of these files has been really cumbersome.

I do like getting to draw some different characters, though.

I think if I keep up the pace, I’ll have my highest earning month yet, and that’s been a motivator for me.

Also, to all the new dormitory residents, your guys’ drawings are scary good! When I first met you all, I did my best to act like a well-put-together Senpai, but, well…let’s just say I’m feeling out of practice when it comes to drawing.

If I wanna get better I have to take the initiative, so in 2024—Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter—I hope to be drawing.

お世話になっております。岡部です。アニメーター2年目に突入です。新入社員がやってきました！自分の代より人数が多いです！

入社前にこの会社から原画の仕事を受けていたとか絵がすごく上手いとか怖い噂を沢山聞きます。あとひと月も経てば後輩の仕事のチェック係になるのですが教えられることなどあるのでしょうか。不安です。自分の代はシャイな人が多く春は静かに過ごしていましたが後輩たちは賑やかで楽しそうです。

仕事の方は、自社作品が終わって久しぶりに、ほぼ初めて…他社作品の仕事をしています。作品によって注意事項が変わることに慣れておらず描くことよりファイル整理の方が大変です。描くキャラクターが変わって調子が良くなったのか、このペースで作業できれば最高月産枚数を更新できそうです。頑張りたいです。

寮の新人の方たちも絵が超上手くて怯えています！お会いした時一丁前に先輩面をやりましたが自分の絵は描かないと上手くならないので…お絵描きの2024、お絵描きの春、夏、秋冬にしていきたいです。
