I like to think Hank hesitated to tell Gomez after the confession tape Walt made because he kind of implicated Gomey to it too. Gomez was involved in the ride-along. Gomez was involved with the Crazy-8 investigation. Gomez was involved with the stakeouts looking for the RV. Gomez traded places with Hank in El Paso, where Hank was one of the only ones to suspiciously survive the Tortuga bombing. Gomez had an unprofessional reaction toward the twin in the hospital. Gomez conducted the search at the laundry against Gus. Gomez busted the lawyer Mike was using. If Walt releases the tape, the first person they're going to look at after investigating Hank is Gomez. It would ruin his life. I think Hank was trying to spare him from that.
