This isn't my personal number 1 show ever but this episode is my favorite season premier of all time. Definitely season finale quality. It's such a fucked up situation. Gus could definitely have handled the dealer situation better and made sure those guys just left that kid alone from now on. Walt definitely didn't want it to go this way but they left him with little choice. Without doing it him amd Jesse would 100% be dead. It is what it is and here we are now. Poor Gale was just caught in the crossfire. From the moment Gus walked in until he left is one of my favorite moments in this show. I just always wonder how differently things would have went if Walt just told Jesse to fuck off from the beginning and told Gus what he was trying to do and then just worked with Gale. Who knows. You are 100% right with the chef analogy. Just about anyone can learn to make basic meth but it takes talent to make a truly good product. Walt is the very top of that talent and irreplaceable. Sure Gale could have came pretty close but it would never have been quite as good as what Walt can produce. This season is so good. 🔥
