Also worth noting that the Tuskens were treated completely differently here than in virtually any other portrayal, in which they were various levels of mindless savages. mando referred to them as locals, and gave respect to their claim of the land. He negotiated with them instead of fighting with them, and he’s a dude that said weapons were his religion

That's basically because Tuskins and Mandos are both nomadic so mutual respect plays a part. Tuskins do have their savage sides as much as Mandos do. Tskins raid and kidnap people. Mandalorians raid and kidnap villages too. It's all based around combat. Like the vikings, Spartans and some native American tribes combat is more then just fighting. It's a culture Also a tuskin never shows their faces either so Mando has a especially interesting connection to tuskins not even the kids

Not sure where you got the idea that this was the first piece of media to do this. They’ve been getting the “misunderstood natives” treatment as far back as KOTOR, a game that came out before the prequel trilogy was even finished.
