Mad Max: Fury Road Full Length

Shadowcat

You said you love practical effects when you mentioned the original Mad Max movies, implying that Fury Road uses a lot of CGI, but the reason why Fury Road's special effects are so amazing is because SO much of this was done with practical effects. According to a behind the scenes video, CGI was mostly used to remove safety rigs and cables and to alter the backgrounds, but all the car crashes were real crashes, motorcycles really jumped over the war rig, and the polecat dudes were really swinging around at speed. The stunt performers trained with former members of Cirque du Soleil for eight weeks to pull off those stunts. Obviously, no one really got run over, but so much of what we saw on screen was done for real in the desert in Namibia. Simply amazing work by the stunt team!
