I think that if there was any negative to death note is that the first 25 episodes are such top tier stuff that in my opinion after ep 25 it starts to drop a little in quality, but that little drop is very noticeable. I think 37 episodes is a perfect amount of episodes for this show. Also I wasn’t sure if I heard you properly but just in case lights dad doesn’t know Ls real name, he just knows his code name. Watari is the only one that knows ls name
