Yo! Nice if were getting a full reaction to this I’ll wait for that one

From what I’ve read it is up to us to decide if he is or not still in a dream. I personally think he is awake. 🥺

Paul Pinto

He’s probably awake (it wobbles right before it cuts out and Michael Caines character never went under) *but* it cuts out before we see it fall for sure because the whole point is asking if it even matters. He’s happy. It goes right back to that scene where we see people putting themselves asleep for days at a time because the dream has become their reality, where they are most happy. “Who are you to say otherwise?” Some philosophical questions there.

Paul Pinto

It also plants the idea in the viewers head that maybe Mal was right all along. It’s a brilliant ending. Again though, I’m 99.9% sure they’re all awake. There’s a lot of evidence. Nolan just didn’t want to tell everyone for sure. That’s why people are still talking about this for a decade. Something that also crossed my mind over the years is that even IF that top never falls... despite the fact that Cobb got distracted by his kids, he’d eventually still see the damn thing spinning and get in touch with the team. But... nah, it falls. They just didn’t want us to see for sure.

I'm glad you reacted to this one. I love how Christopher Nolan's films always make you question things. As for the ending I think it wasn't a dream, that little spinner was starting to topple and camera was cut intentionally to make us confused and stuck thinking. This movie hits hard and I think its up to your interpretation, it wasn't shown afterall.

There is a popular theory that suggests the Spinning Top isn’t Cobb’s Totem at all. Remember he even says that the Totem doesn’t belong to him, it’s Mal’s. People have theorized that his Wedding Ring is his totem. You may have to rewatch it but if you look closely during his dream sequences he wears his ring but when he’s awake he’s not. The final scene shows he’s not wearing his ring, which may indicate that he’s actually awake.

So one of the plots in this movie is the spinning thing. That is not his totem, it was his wifes. When Cob is dreaming he is still married to Mal. He has his ring on his finger. In the real life hi doesnt have it on his finger. You can see it in most scenes in the movie. So his totem is the ring. At the end of the movie he doesnt wear the ring, so it is reality :)

even though the spinning top thing is or isn't his the end definitely was the reality spinning tops last longer than 20 sec and seeing the children's faces shows reality and if he weren't the movie wouldn't make sense there's a clear reality point where the spinning top falls, that's the plain so no its reality
