Fuck yes I’ve been waiting for this!

Kara Nancoz

I’ve been looking forward to this reaction since the season came out.

Megan Brick

WAIT WAIT WAIT I GOTTA GO GET MY SNACK

April Dixon

Best episode. Love you guys!!!!

Jennifer Lopez

Not going to lie. I’ve joined the patreon for this reaction 🙌😅

SouleysKpopShop

Earl is higher than a Viscount but lower than a Marquess.

Maren

Ooooh!

Megan Brick

They way I yelled at you both 🤣 “STOP SINGING AND FOCUS, BOYS” 👹

Megan Brick

Yeah it’s just really hot in here and I’m having the humidity crankies. 🤣 Carry on with your concert! 😘

Crystal Pritchard

I’m also really happy that you guys recognized that Debling wasn’t a perfect match for Penelope. I don’t understand people who still ship them after this episode. It’s so obvious that Penelope wants love and Debling told her that he loves his work so much that he doesn’t think he’d even be able to make room for her in his heart. And with him travelling a lot, she’d be on her own like all the time. Her and Colin couldn’t be friends anymore, she’s not friends with Eloise and Debling doesn’t get along with his family so she wouldn’t even have in-laws the way Kate does with Anthony. Why do people want that for Penelope? It would’ve been nice if Colin had realized his feelings earlier, but that doesn’t diminish them now that he’s realized. He’s so committed to her and will make her happy, I just don’t get the fans that hate them together.

Olivsterz

Eeeep I've been so excited for this one :D Great to have you back boys! Okay, some direct answers (bc my autistic ass doesn't know anything else lol) 1) Lord Samadani is a Marquess, but what is a Marquess? The title is the 2nd highest rank for non-royalty in the aristocracy, so it goes Duke - Marquess - Earl - Viscount - Baron. And it's pronounced the way it's spelled "Mar-kwes". 2) Why Hyacinth isn't referred to as 'Miss Bridgerton' the like Eloise is? Since Eloise is the oldest of the Bridgerton girls, who is not yet married, she is the only one who 'gets' to be called by their last name alone, e.g. Francesca is known as 'Miss Francesca Bridgerton'. 3) love the way Benji teases Rizzo when there's *boobies*on the screen lol 4) I don't know enough about the mechanics of old watches, so I don't feel confident answering that lolololol. 5) Right again on the songs! Snow On The Beach by Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey and Give Me Everything by Pitbull.

HarriKane

Was hoping you would notice Colin's hand when he pulls up her dress (something Luke Newton had confirmed he did on purpose)

Megan Cunningham

The fact that they took “for gods sake, are you going to marry me, Penelope Featherington, or not” straight from the book? Perfection 😙👌

Esther Boogie

28:00 Yes, they wound their watches back then. The winding pin would load a metal spring with "stored" energy that would be released over time to a set of gears that moved the watch hands at different rates. I was puzzled by this too, until researching it yesterday while making plans to replicate Charlotte's moving swan wig. :) 33:00 Yeah, Cressida's kooky costumes take me out of the show. Everyone else has anachronistic moments in their "regency fantasy" attire, while she's rocking potato sacks with shoulder blobs. All of her assets are hidden, and I don't buy that her character would do that. But her looks mostly take me out of the show because they're all anachronism, no regency. It undercuts the idea that this society's rigid rules are all that serious, and takes the high stakes right out of all the social tension.

Cody Cutler

god cant wait for the next part 😭

Esther Boogie

I'm soaking up all the extra silver touches in the wardrobes this season, wondering if they're hints at the silver dress worn by a mystery woman to a masquerade ball. Even the woman dancing resembles an actress speculated to have been cast as that mystery woman. Benedict's statement here that he may have "missed his calling" to be a dancer also feels like foreshadowing. Book readers know what I'm saying, but I don't want to spoil it for you. Besides, the show is much better than the books, IMHO.

Frances

You were right on the money with that carriage song 😂 nicely done

B

The fingers that Colin used to fix her dress when the carriage stopped 😳

Lisa - Marie

I think this might be my fave reaction of yours. You both belting out give me everything had me laughing so much

Noemi Gonzalez

The fingers while Colin fixed the dress was awesome, I yelled out loud when I saw that. LoL I was waiting for this reaction. You guys didn't disappoint.

Michael D

One thing that I don't think has been touched on in the comments... And isn't a spoiler, but rather a little Easter egg by the writers of the show... Is that Lord Debling's voyage to the Northern Pass is a clear indication that he isn't a fit for Penelope. Bc in history that voyage is a known one, in that anyone who attempted it would die from the elements and treacherous Waters they would have to sail through... Essentially indicating that anyone who gets married to Lord Debling would assurably become a widow. And loveless. So with Penelope wanting a love match... It was a way for the writers to say "he might look good on paper, but it won't ever work out"

Jillian Blanchard

Without a doubt my favourite reactors to watch along with. The joy is infectious! Thanks so much for sharing! So excited to watch part 2, then watch it again with you guys! 😊

Michael D

Also. It is speculated around that Francesca is being depicted as on the spectrum with autism. Her infatuation/obsession is music. I believe it is even suggested she can play multiple instruments, but prefers the piano. The Earl is also, supposedly, being depicted as on the autism spectrum as well. With a similar obsession for music, but with a mind for composing it and not necessarily playing it. Hence his sudden run off to start reworking the song knowing exactly how Francesca would like it recompose. Just a fun fact I discovered floating around reddit

Eily Foley

Giant thank you to u both for the amazing speed with how you've got these out . So so so appreciated. Have a rest when you can and maybe some vodka lemonade 😍❤️

Kathryn Callahan

Sad I am halfway through my lunch and can only watch half this video lol but I’m INSANELY excited about this… praises to you both for your speedy uploading.

Gabby Mouse

So excited to watch these reactions!!! Glad y’all have been catching on the songs because I unfortunately knew of only 3 😅 excited and nervous for the 2nd half especially with the trailer that was released. And ignore those YouTube comments about the singing and such. It’s commentary for a reason and it’s not like they do the exact same thing when they watched it the first time. Y’all are doing a fantastic job and can’t wait for more! 🥰

Lucy

The fact that you haven’t mentioned the queer vibes/chemistry between Eloise and Cressida is driving me crazy! Cressida (to me) is sooooo lesbian coded - she reminds me a lot of me before I came out

Sam

here's to hoping she falls out of the carriage in the beginning of part 2

Beth Gonzales

I was so excited to see this one upload! I love your reactions the most and was not disappointed. I can't wait for June 13 and then your reactions to the rest of the series.

Sam

When Cressida called them Eros and Psyche I googled it (not Cressida low key complimenting Penelope) and like we all thought we were getting a cute romcom friends to lovers, no we are getting Greek romance and part 2 is going to be DRAMA.

Sara G

of course! Fella, PLEASE enjoy the show the way you want. The way I took this is that honestly, the thing I like the best about your reactions is that it feels like we are hanging out with you. It's a gift you two have! Anyway, I read this comment and "same'd" as laughing myself being delusional about actually being in the room with y'all. TLDR: We love the two of you and are grateful for whatever content you want to share with us. Much Love!

Rachel Morris

Eloise is Miss Bridgerton now, since Daphne is married. The eldest unmarried daughter is Miss LastName, and any younger daughters are Miss FirstName, like Francesca and Hyacinth.

Megan Brick

Exactly! I yelled like they’re my friends sitting in the room with me. 🤣 They’re my very favorites; I’d never actually be anything other than grateful for their time.

Cayce Carson

I saw your community post before I watched this and honestly it was extremely funny seeing you belt off key to pittbull while Pen is getting her world rocked 😭😭 You heard all the important parts and it is probably weird to watch sex scenes with your best bro just like 🧍🏻‍♂️🧍🏿

Arion Floyd

In that time it was pretty normal for women of that status to know how to play instruments or have knowledge of the arts. Daphne was quiet skilled too.

Masha X.

"you need to run to the airport" 😂 Benji understood the assignment 😄 I loved this reaction, the singing in the end! 🔝 😄

Hannah DeBoer

Debling will be gone for three years one year each way and apparently one there studying.

Lauren Reid

I'm grateful for the singing! Tbh that scene gets me FLUSTERED 😊🥵😊. Y'all singing made me giggle so much, I could actually watch it w y'all in a somewhat calmer manner. So thank you! Best reaction tbh. ALSO? I don't get why ppl are so down on it taking Colin time? My husband and I were friends, and I had no idea he was into me? Then some stuff happened and, a bit tipsy, I was like "I guess we can kiss?" And yeah. He immediately was like. We're together ❤️ and I was like "I hope it doesn't make things awkward lol" ...we've been together 10yrs, married for 8 (tho tbh we got engaged after maybe 5 months?). So it is extremely believable to me 😆 😂 😆 And like the Earl for Francesca, he gets me the best gifts for my autistic special interests. 💕

Hannah DeBoer

That moment Colin replaces her dress sleeve after the carriage moment carefully not using the fingers he just used on her. How considerate Colin.

Andrea Martinez

Been looking forward to your reaction to this episode

ena moreno

I love how Rizzo 🤯 mind blew by learning that they have clock ⏰️ back than. Forgetting the fact that in this season Colin gave his mother pocket watch form his travels.

Kyla

this season has been so chaotic omg but yet i NEED part 2 immediately, the wait has been killin me. fran and john stole my heart 🥺❤️ and colin and peneople stay being scandalous, ALWAYS unchaperoned, kissing and touching, using first names, no one ever clocks it 😭 i wonder how everything is gonna go down in pt 2, they’ve already changed the order of things in the book so anything can happen! so glad y’all are reacting to this show, bridgerton wouldnt be the same without you two ❤️❤️❤️ 🐝

Daffodoodle

Yeah, I also had a situation like that with a friend I’d known since high school. He was one of my best friends, and nothing ever happened until we were nearly 24. This stuff happens all the time. We were a hot and heavy committed couple within a few weeks of me realizing I had feelings. When it’s longtime friends, people only focus on the moment it crossed the threshold, but everything in your friendship up to that point is part of it, in hindsight.

Mikala B

My mom, sister, and I were actually thrown off by the quality of lighting and cinematography. It went so downhill from the last season.

Erin

Great reaction! I don’t watch this show except for your reactions, but I actually went and watched this episode because I was so desperate to know what happened! Now I am going back to the beginning and hoping to get caught up before part 2 comes out. So many thanks to you guys for getting me interested in this show! :)

Erin Heltne

Rizzo’s “f#%k off” at the carriage scene when Colin says it is his business because he cares about her. 😂 For real. I had the same reaction. You destroy her one shot at marriage and that’s your excuse?

Daffodoodle

And Penelope herself, in Greek mythology, is the clever and underestimated wife of Odysseus who is loyal to him for 20 years while he is off on his travels. Everyone thinks he is dead and urges her to actively pursue a new husband, but she keeps stalling. Eventually, she starts entertaining herself by pretending to consider men and having them compete for her affections, while she promises them she will choose a husband soon, once one thing or another happens (kinda like manipulating the marriage mart, no?). She passes the time this way until Odysseus returns home in disguise, pretending to be someone he is not. 🤔 Penelope sees through this and suspects he is in fact Odysseus, but she makes him compete with the others to prove himself worthy of her love. In doing this, Odysseus accidentally reveals his identity and admits who he is. But once he does, she panics, thinking her love coming back to her is too good to be true, and it must be a trick of the gods. So she gives him one more test, to be sure. The name “Penelope” also translates to something like “cunning weaver whose motivation is hard to decipher”. And weaving in mythology is often used to symbolize storytelling and manipulating the fates of others. 😳

Andrea Martinez

Violet knew what she was doing :)

Sam

Or Anthony and his pocket watch in season 1 and 2

Sam

That is so them!!! I wonder if Julia Quinn based them off that story and Bridgerton writers are going to bring the drama so they added Eros and Psyche. They have been leaving easter eggs to Eros and Psyche from ep 1 but I'm delusional and decided the amount of butterflies in Penelopes life in season 1 was a sign too (probably not).

Ashley Downey

Why do I get the feeling that Eloise may not be interested in men romantically? I could be wrong as this is my first season watching Bridgerton at all. I started with Queen Charlotte last year and then went backwards from season 3. Same thing I did with Stranger Things season 3. Watched the show from the beginning after season 3 until season 4 came out.

Abrielle Wright

She marries a man. The deal they made with the author when making this show is that they would end up with who they ended up with in the books. That's what book readers have said anyway.

Ashley Downey

That's interesting. I have seen several articles as of recently that think that Eloise and Cressida are going to end up being different than their book counterparts when it comes to their sexuality. I haven't read the books. So I am just going off of what I observed so far.

SimBeowulf

I'm going to sound a little mean but I hope I get my point across: I'd argue that Penelope's sisters are mean to her bc they live in a section of society that--as we keep seeing--makes women look at each other as more competition and superficially/hierarchially in the marriage mart, (yes, sometimes especially sisters bc your competition is in closer proximity and people are more constantly comparing you to them. You can't move yourself away from your "comp" bc you live together and go out at the same time to look for husbands) and women don't have political autonomy to be encouraged to think of much else. The sisters already don't have much character, discernment, observation skills, they go wherever the society's perception & their mother's direction takes them as long as they are comfortable themselves. Society sees Penelope as not much, and these 2 sisters learned to not really pay attention to her unless it's to feel a bit more superior. We have never seen them have a genuinely positive interaction, either, so the impression that they are not so great human beings--instead of say, "just sisters being sisters"--is greater, at least on me. The fact that the mother isn't very comforting or reassuring as violet, instead thinking so practically that she doesn't think to speak tactfully or encouragingly to any of her girls also encourages this divide, this competition. Because she is also singularly focused on them "succeeding" in that divisive marriage mart while constantly expounding on how "hopeless" Penelope is bc she doesn't fit the criteria of "pretty girl"/object--with all her good intentions. What saves the sisters from total, universal dislike from the audience all is the fact that they are women in such a world and their...not-so smartness lands them in absurd, dramatically ironic situations, and they don't talk as much to Penelope as they could.

SimBeowulf

Oh, and there are plenty of people in real life who are friends for years and then they start dating. Married even again for years, with all the passions. It's very possible and it happens, I think, bc people just tend to compartmentalize themselves, their relationships, etc. Until one moment, or a series of them rising up into a crescendo, you decide to try to change the shape of that relationship. And Colin met Penny when they were both kids and they have a 4 yr age diff. Older kids don't really have crushes on tinier kids, esp those who have followed their little sister around as their bf. I think Benji just can't imagine it for himself bc he's just loves more whirlwind passionate, do or don't stories or he loves urgency.

Amanda Dwornicki

I find Penelope to be the most compelling female lead so far. Seeing her moral ambiguity since the first season and the much higher stakes she is dealing with has drawn me in to the show so much more than previous seasons. I enjoyed the last 2 seasons, but neither of them made me feel so invested nor did they do much to move me in any meaningful ways. Both the leads this season feel like they have multiple layers to discover and to relate to. And tbh the fact that there has been such a big reaction from people is a telltale sign that a character is more compelling. Being compelling doesn't mean everyone likes them... it just means they inspire a reaction in people regardless of whether it's a good one or not. A truly uncompelling character would inspire indifference. Compelling characters accomplish the effect of all great art: they made you feel something. A lot of people tend to forget how LW works, and how it is business for Penelope, not a column where she writes her own opinions and thoughts (most of the time). She simply re-writes what she hears and she rarely puts her own thoughts into it, and she uses it to save people's asses. Saving them in the only way she can, because she's a woman, a spinster and a wallflower who nobody cares for really, so LW is her only real source of power. I've seen people saying that Daphne never did anything to her to deserve scrutiny, but the thing is... LW talked up the Bridgertons at the start of S1 that Portia and Mrs. Cowper thought Violet was LW. It's not her fault the Bridgertons are such scandal makers that she has to put them in her columns all the time. LW was also the instrument to save Daphne from Nigel. With Marina... people love to take the context and reasons of characters in this situations. Marina was acting out of desperation and Pen was acting on desire to save someone. Both are right and wrong at the same time, and you simply can't hate on Penelope for her actions without calling out Marina too. She did the best she could and everything, in the end, turned out the best they could. PLUS, Penelope suffered the consequences of her actions, the Featheringtons were shamed publicly and even the Bridgertons turned their back on Penelope, as she had to sneak in to talk to Eloise. With Eloise, it pains me so much that people put all the blame on Penelope when Eloise was ruining herself. The Queen was already on Eloise's ass, it was only a matter of time before her scandal broke through and Penelope even saved her with not saying anything about her meeting Theo, a man, alone. Then she really would have been ruined. Also some people say she should have told the queen, but why must Penelope always give up her happiness and what she worked so hard for? She's always the one expected to give up her love and business to save others. Eloise is a Bridgerton, her shame is only temporary. And we can see this so much in S3, when they want us to believe only Cressida was kind to Eloise, but we actually see the girls in the ton constantly search for Eloise, they engage in conversation with her and nobody ever truly treats her harshly, which in contrast to Penelope, who is ridiculed just for breathing lol. I need Eloise to grow up so bad, I love her, but her blindness is killing me. What gets me the most is Penelope didn't "ruin" these people's lives. They ruined it themselves by acting the way they did. The guy who tried to assault Daphne in S1 who had the illegitimate child and was run out of the ton ruined himself. All Penelope did was put them on blast. If they didn't act the fool, she wouldn't have had anything to write about. Eloise wrecked herself. She knew what she was doing in S2 was scandalous. Even the coachman discouraged her from doing what she did. And then she has the audacity to be all self-righteous when confronting Penelope (the gaslighting Penelope did wasn't right but she's not a morally gray character for nothing). Eloise hasn't even tried to see things from Penelope's perspective. Their friendship is often so one-sided. How oblivious can she be to not notice her friend sneaking off to deliver the writings and/or the fact that Penelope was IN LOVE WITH COLIN THE WHOLE TIME THEY'VE KNOWN EACH OTHER???? In S1 when Penelope mentions having real problems and wanting marriage, Eloise is in disbelief and Penelope is frustrated from how delusional Eloise is about trying to find LW like some fun game. Penelope wouldn't have been driven to this if her circumstances had been anything like Eloise's. No matter what happens to Eloise, the Bridgerton family will look after her, spinster or not. Penelope does not have that privilege.

Brook Lyn

I don’t care what anyone says you guys singing the carriage part was my fav part of the reaction. I usually watch the new seasons with my friends but I recently moved so I watched this season by myself and watching your reaction made me feel like I was watching with my friends again and we were singing along.😊💖 Can’t wait for more reactions in part 2!

Sara G

You deserve a PhD for this breakdown. Really well said/argued.

Crystal Pritchard

Just wanted to say this comment is so well written!! It’s perfectly encapsulates why I love Penelope, and Nicola’s portrayal of her, so much.

Maria

I’ve been waiting for this one!! The carriage scene reaction was THE BEST! I could not stop laughing with yall

Bx

Loved this reaction guys, you were right about the carriage song, didn't expect that one to be in Bridgerton - but it worked! Intrigued to see what happens next, do you think you'll react to the part 2 trailer or just jump right into the season? Happy either way and no pressure for either, excited to see whatever content you guys make

Michael D

They actually didn't make this deal. The author has even said so in articles. The biggest thing she has added is that she loves and trusts Shonda to write the best tv and will go with whatever Shondaland decides to do. No pact, just the public perception of one.

Chelsea Doyle

I thought Pitbull's Instagram post was very sweet, he was clearly happy with how his song was used - https://www.instagram.com/p/C7PvfvrMtgR/

Amber K

47:47 I keep playing over and over! 🤣 Love this part from Rizzo and Benji!!

Tzezuko

THIS! Also Eloise and Cressida promenading together all through this season - and Eloise coming to call on Cressida. It's taken as them being just friends hanging out, but if you notice also Eloise is starting to wear clothes that echo Cressida's too. It could just be friend influence but it could also be hinting at more. Of course, this might all be a bait and switch but we will see!

Ashley Downey

Having just started watching Bridgerton. I am not a fan of Eloise whatsoever.

Noemi Gonzalez

The author debunked that rumor, she said she trusts Shondaland with anything they want to do.

Ashley Downey

Well I guess Eloise could end up lesbian then. If it's not following the books necessarily.

Charis Chislett-McDonald

Amanda, on the one hand I completely agree with what you have said, especially that it was the acts of the people themselves that led to their 'ruining', not just the fact that Penelope let the ton know about the incidences through LW. The issue I have is when, knowing full well how powerful the words of Whistledown are, she just goes straight to printing a column that she's made when angry or upset, not even letting her emotions cool off and potentially redrafting the piece. It is in the incidences involving Eloise and Marina that we see just how calculating Penelope is. In both instances as much as you can argue she wrote her column to help Colin and Eloise, there is clearly also a big personal gain...Colin remains unmarried and the Queen pulls back on her search for Whistledown as her leads that all pointed to Eloise must now be wrong as LW has discredited her so publicly. Both leave an opening for her future love life and continued business. I'm all for a woman getting her bag, as Rizzo puts it, and understand the humanity of saying/writing something you don't mean in times of upset or anger, but I still find her actions a little hard to reconcile. That is not to say I agree with either of Eloise or Marina. I fully agree that noone should enter into a serious relationship/marriage keeping such potentially life-altering secrets from one another. It will be interesting in part 2 to see how quickly Penelope is willing to share her secrets with her fiancé - obviously business and another man's baby are two very different things but the principle of honesty and transparency still applies. I agree that Penelope is a really interesting character that I cannot wait to see more of.

Zara Hoffman

She's called "Miss Hyacinth" because she's not "out in society" yet.

Xochitl Olivares

Honestly I am such a sucker for this trope. Also my favorite couple is the Mondrichs so they better not suffer ever or riot.

Trix Reekmans

Not just because she's not out but because she's not the eldest unmarried daughter. Only the oldest unmarried daughter would be addressed as Miss__

Yanantin

I'm curious why do you watch it backwards? Isn't that confusing?

Ashley Downey

Not particularly. I have heard enough about Bridgerton and its spoilers to keep up with what was happening. Even though I had never watched the show before until the 3rd season.

Yanantin

Me waiting for the reaction to 3x05 like it's a Lady Whistledown sheet!! 😭

Daffodoodle

I also wonder how much of any of the symbolism and references and connections comes before/during/after, and in what order. Even in just the books, Julia Quinn claims she wrote most or all of the first book before deciding who Lady Whistledown was. So was the character ALWAYS named PENelope FEATHERington, or did she change it in editing? 😂 Or with the honeybees and the butterflies being the symbols of the families… You mean, two creatures that are pollinators?! The idea that one of the couples’ portmanteaus is Polin when the whole series is full of bird (Phillip and Marina Crane, Albion Finch), bee, and flower references every chance they get is too perfect but must be a happy accident, right? I also just realized that if she had married Debling, she would have gone back to being a Penelope waiting for her Odysseus to return, while being expected to remain faithful.
