there was a lot of speculation at the time surrounding george being responsible for james’ death and poisoning him but it isnt true, george verifiably wasn’t in england when james died and he reportedly wept for days straight and had to be comforted by charles when he heard the news - this is easily nicks best performance for me he was absolutely brilliant, as was tony and julianne!!

I haven't read Woolley's book, but I've heard a couple of different takes on how King James died. In both it was from severe dysentery, but in one George was by his side, in the other George was in another country and wept when he got the news. I think there has been speculation that George killed the king, but...you know, whatever. I believe their relationship began transactional and became more loving (evidenced by the letters the two exchanged), but that love did not surpass George's growing greed and self-interest. George was beloved by King Charles, but I don't believe they were lovers. Side note: George's relationship with King James is referenced in the book Red, White & Royal Blue (you know, starring that little-known actor whose name escapes me). After James's death, the Giambologna sculpture, Samson Slaying a Philistine, was gifted to George Villiers by Charles I shortly before he became king. This is housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum. There's also a Villiers Street in London. About George and his warring ways: he wanted to be seen as more than a good-looking lay. He admired Raleigh's conquering ways and thought that was the route to take to achieve his goals. He was also trying to hide his failure in Spain by painting them as monsters who wronged him and Charles. And as you noted, Parliament, namely Coke, had always wanted war with Spain. I expect this production to receive several Emmys.

I'd love if you guys eventually react to Skam

Oops, one other thing I meant to mention: the guy who killed George was reportedly upset about be denied a promotion instead of the loss of "friends." Goerge wanted to be seen as more than a good, pretty lay, but he had no skill as a military leader and just kept losing.
